Military leaders dissolve government in Guinea

The military leadership in Guinea has dissolved the government – but isn’t explaining why. Government ministers have been ordered to surrender their passports and have had their bank accounts frozen. The armed forces deposed president Alpha Conde in a coup in 2021. Military leader Mamady Doumbouya has promised the return of civilian rule by the end of this year. Guinea: Three die in protests marking second anniversary of coup

In Guinea, three people have been killed in confrontations with police and protesters – on the second anniversary of the military coup there. That is according to opposition groups. Guinea coup leader bars foreign travel for government officials

Guinea’s military rulers have barred government officials from leaving the country. Coup leader Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya summoned cabinet ministers and told them to hand over their passports and official vehicles. The former French Foreign Legion officer led a military unit that removed President Alpha Conde on Sunday.
