Soldiers have detained Guinea’s President Alpha Conde in a coup.
On national television, coup leader Mamady Doumbouya the head of the country’s special forces says the borders are closed and the constitution dissolved.
The United Nations and the West African economic bloc, ECOWAS have condemned the military takeover.
Conde won a third presidential term in a widely disputed election last October.

For now I suggest to those who advised and helped Sierra Leone and Liberia with their governing style should step in immediately and help these coup leaders before it’s too late. If Africa can produce leaders with the same leadership skills, and mindset of JJ Rawlings of Ghana, Africa will never have leadership setbacks. Rawlings knew how a government should work. He made sure that leaders must be accountable to the people. He never gave the West the chance to dictate Ghana’s internal affairs. Fearless and resilient he made sure that Ghana’s mineral resources were not exploited by the West, but well managed and profitable only on mutual terms between Ghana and multinational corporations. He applied the principle of Checks and Balances in government. Rawlings was a military man with exceptional political and economic intelligence. He was not a ruler, he was a quality leader. When Rawlings left office he was the only African leader who walked the streets of Ghana freely and safely, and traveled all over world without bodyguards/security details. He was a great man.
