Mass evacuations as super Typhoon Rai slams into Philippines

Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes in the Philippines as “one of the world’s strongest storms” of the year made landfall in mid-eastern parts of the island nation. The Philippine’s weather bureau, PAGASA, said Typhoon Rai made its first landfall in Surigao del Norte’s Siargao Island at 05:30 GMT on Thursday. Shanghai cancels flights as Typhoon In-Fa lashes eastern China

Two international airports in the Chinese city of Shanghai have cancelled all flights and authorities banned outdoor activities as Typhoon In-Fa lashed eastern China with high winds and heavy rains. In-Fa landed in the Putuo district of the city of Zhoushan, a major port in the eastern province of Zhejiang, at 12:30pm (04:30 GMT) on Sunday, state broadcaster CCTV said, citing the China Meteorological Administration. At least 42 killed after Typhoon Vamco batters Philippines

At least 42 people are now confirmed to have died and another 20 are missing after Typhoon Vamco swept across the northern Philippines. Landslides and flooding have destroyed homes and left dozens of towns without power. Residents have a long road to recovery. Super Typhoon Goni batters Philippines, one million evacuated

A super typhoon has barrelled into the eastern Philippines bringing “catastrophic” winds and intense rains as about a million people were evacuated in its projected path including in the capital, Manila, where the main international airport was ordered closed. Officials said at least seven people had been killed. Typhoon topples trees, knocks out power in South Korea

Typhoon Haishen made landfall just north of the South Korean city of Busan on Monday morning, cutting power to homes and factories, toppling trees, and forcing trains to be cancelled and flights grounded. Haishen has brought heavy rains and strong winds, but was downgraded from a Typhoon to a tropical Storm.
