@Perla Sandoval it shouldn’t have to be normal. Why did the government defund agencies and departments geared to improving disaster management?? It’s like they don’t care that people are dying and losing their houses and belongings every year. Why doesn’t the government learn from previous typhoons? Are these people going through such a traumatic experience a normal life in the ph? Pls pls pls start asking questions and challenge your govt to do better!

Wow, I am utterly disgusted by this Journalists poor behavior. Why not report from a safe distance and allow the boat to rescue trapped people & real victims instead?? But nope, the Al-jazeera reporter decided to jump on board and RESERVE at least TWO SPOTS, that could carry flooded victims, the elderly and children. The people of this town should send a clear message for such a disgusting behavior by a Journalist. Same with Al-Jazeera. They should investigate this further.

we dont really need a law anymore. The average woman in the Philippines now has 2.5 children- down from 7.15 in 1960. It keeps dropping every year. Within a decade, it will be below 2.1, which is below the point of population replacement.

Because Aquino cancelled all the flood control projects of arroyo in 2010, see what happened to Metro Manila.

    • Mini M Reply

there were so many river dredging and relocation projects under Aquino. I know because my own family was relocated because we lived too close to a river. But since Duterte became president, many of those families moved back by the river

    • Pedro Pitoyko Reply

Mini M yeah, there were so many relocation projects under Aquino. That’s why banks of rivers and creeks in metro Manila looked like dump site during his term.

    • Mini M Reply

@Pedro Pitoyko no. They were improving. Where we lived, they moved us all out. But Duterte doesn’t care about that at all. Some everyone moved back when he became president. He also doesn’t care about the environment. I miss Gina Lopez! We need to protest the Sierra Madre mountains, because they protect Manila. If there are no more Sierra Madre mountains, Manila will become unlivable

    • Pedro Pitoyko Reply

Mini M yeah, river banks and creeks in metro Manila were just a little better than dump sites during aquinos term and you call that improvement. Who did not support the appointment of Gina Lopez as the secretary of DENR? Aren’t they the liberal party? And Duterte doesn’t care? Lol. Yeah, go on and rally for the Sierra madre. You should have done that 10 years ago before calamities like this happen.

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long; they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.
“But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted”.

You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything, in Heaven above or in the Earth beneath, or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents up to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

This, then, is how you should pray:

    Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name,
    your kingdom come,
    your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
    And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

“Matthew 5-7 NIV Bible Gateway”, we can use google search.
    These are the teachings,
The Righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ our God.
REPENT, and start doing what is right.
If you abide my teachings, you are really my disciples; then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

A time is coming and has now come, that the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and Truth. God is Spirit, so his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and Truth; they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

In the New Heaven and New Earth,
    only Righteousness dwells.
May the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ our God be with you all.

Prayers to all for safety & swift recovery. Building traditional homes no longer are practical these days especially in an archipelago like the Philippines. The boat industry should thrive & become more active in this country. If I were a future-minded Filipino entrepreneur, I will devise & promote BOAT HOUSES/FLOATING HOMES/SHIP technology as a viable alternative. TYPHOONS have always been a permanent condition of the Philippines’ geolocation. There’s no reason to think that typhoons will go away so better plan ahead & USE MODERN ENGINEERING/SCIENCE/TECHNOLOGY for GOD’s sake!

Typhoon and super typhoon and so as storms can be anticipated and prepared as well by teaching oneself the kind of discipline one should have that enlightens the rest. Flood control measures are going to be evident in many cities and provinces that protects life/lives from flood, earthquakes and many forms of uncertainties. Installation of huge water tanks for the needs of communities in flood prone areas in lowlands in order to collect/siphon water from flood prone areas while cleaning and treating the water as well for potable use. Huge water tanks as well in highlands or places in order to collect trap water that causes soil erosion in the mountains as they are trapped on or before any high amounts of rainfall as it is to be anticipated always in many provinces and be it in the cities wherein high rise buildings has been constructed that changed the topography of some cities where the bridges are also constructed, particularly the Guadalupe/mandaluyong bridge where huge amounts of water are also trapped coming from the Rizal provinces all the way to manila bay. Those are some of the areas that needs to be configured to be flood proof while anticipating needs for the needed water as well in order to answer the demands at times of fire accidents, and prevent casualties brought from the uncertain. To install water turbines at the shores of Manila bay to anticipate tsunamis or high winds brought by typhoon while harnessing energy and keeping people safe from harm.
