A state funeral has been held in Bangladesh for former President Muhammad Ershad.
The former general played a major role in politics for decades – leading the country for eight years after seizing power in a bloodless coup in 1982.
He died last Sunday at the age of 89 and leaves behind a mixed legacy.

He may had done many good things but the line of dictatorships devastated our country. Look at Bangladesh today.
He made Bangladesh a Muslim country, it was him who made deals with Arab countries so that poor people can work there. He built so many bridges and it was him who created Zillas so that people can have government works in their own local places.

As a Bangladeshi, I like him a lot. He declared Friday a National Holiday, He made Bangladesh stable after lots of coups and counter coups by former leaders. He declared Islam National religion (to satisfy the majority, 4th largest Muslim Nation) while also giving the minority religions its rights. Also he did a lot of things.
