Taiwan’s president says she is willing to hold talks with China if they are on an equal basis.
Speaking at National Day celebrations, Tsai Ing-wen said she is open to “meaningful dialogue” with Beijing and hopes regional tensions can be resolved peacefully.

Taiwan should belong to Japan, if any other country, since it was the last to take it by treaty, other than the Western victors of WWII like the U.S. The mainland Chinese have some weird notion that a majority ethnic Chinese country should be theirs. I don’t think any Singaporeans would agree with that.

I am Taiwanese and I do not support such idea. Taiwan progressed this far by making friends and gaining trusts. Our message is clear, PRC is the trouble maker. Any act that would make such message not clear and paint us as part of the problem, is not good. Taiwan is perfectly capable of fending off PRC invasion without offensive nuclear arms. And even if owning nuclear weapons could somehow force CCP to have a talk, it would still be pointless as CCP has never kept its words. Not even once. Ask UK and HK, ask Tibet, ask U.S.
