Protesters clashed with police outside Peru’s Congress in the capital Lima to protest the removal of Martin Vizcarra and the swearing-in of Manuel Merino as president earlier on Tuesday.
Vizcarra remains popular, despite accusations of corruption that led to his impeachment.
In his message, Manuel Merino assured Peruvians elections will be held in April and that he will respect the rule of law.

Esta sentencia está lejos de nuestra sanción por violar los derechos ciudadanos, y quebrar proyectos propuestos, sea de índole que fuese, pero sobre todo de quitarnos la energia moral, de ser firmes por lo apostado, de conseguír concluir lo establecido… Estas acciones hiere a los jovenes, cala sobre nuestra fuerza anímica, raja el temperamento de los que buscamos construír victorias en nuestra historia.. Que lastima! si los que nos dirijen són dolientes traumados de años perdidos….Puedo decir que caimos mas otra vez derrotados, en reincidentes fracasos en años que podriamos haber sido, un País destacable…Esta crisis corta por los pies una nación que desea se hacer fuerte, que soporta las dificultades, que compite apesar de las desventajas y alcanza exitos desde su vitalidad, pero que vá! Si llegan los flacos, llorones, neuróticos y poco hombres nos interrumpiendo en la energia imvertida sobre los regulamentos de vida planteados…Estos oportunistas, destructores, antiéticos, de falta de conciencia moral, carroñeros se infiltrando donde la voz del pueblo debiera colocar quienes lo direccionen…Esta ejecusión sin suficiente aceptación civil, fué tomada de una forma desmemoriada, y que de una forma rrecurrente despertamos un clima de inestabilidad, rencontrandonos semejante a ese Perú, previos a la guerra con Chile, o sin fuerza política de nuestras lineas territoriales donde fuimos repartidos, asaltado, violados, abusados, torturados por estraños…Nos olvidando que un dia fuimos Imperio, que un Inca nos gobernava, pero que traidores lo condenaron hasta irradicar, y qué somos sin consequencia, sin actitud, firmeza y resistencia? Si los padres de la ley sucumbem, por qué esperar que sus ciudadanos lo hagan?

Because the reason behind his impeachment was very obviously political in nature. Case in point, not even a week after his removal they’re already trying to abolish the law that demands standards for college education.
We never wanted to overlook his faults. What we wanted was for him to end his term in a peaceful manner and then be judged for whatever he had done. Vizcarra wasn’t a coward like García, Fujimori or Toledo. But the congress couldn’t wait 6 months for it. They had to plunge the country into chaos just because they needed to look for themselves first. And look at the results. Two college kids dead and many more hurt.

There is not impeachment in the Peruvian constitution, that was a coup not an impeachment. Peruvians were going to have election in April and many political parties don’t want that. Vizcarra was going to make that possible but they plotted against him now they started to make LAWS on their corrupt behalf… it is disgusting!!!
