Am holding a copy of coran in my hand and paused at 1:48 and checked by my self. it is not only similar but it is 100% authentic word for word and it will continue to be so. now for those who know arabic they can read it on their computer screen, the difference people see it not with the actual scripture or words but rather the still of writing and in arabic there is many different ways of hand writing, but they are read the same way.

A very important message from Sheikh Ayman Suwayd regarding recent finding of old Copy of The Quran in Birmingham University
Assalamu Alaikum Wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh.
Respected brothers and sisters; the news has spread that parts of a very old copy of The Quran has been found in Birmingham University. They are saying that through Carbon checks they have found that it goes back to the Prophetic period approximately and that its very old and its an amazing news.
I want to just highlight the difference between the western academic studies method and our Islamic studies system. The western study process depends on oldness / age alone. They will suffice by saying it has been found that it returns to a certain period in time. Nothing besides this concerns them.
As for us Muslims alhamudlillah – if for example a part of the Quran was found and the Carbon checks proved that it is very old and ages back to the Prophetic time; in our study curriculum to ascertain this we have two fundamental questions.
The first question is who wrote it? Because we don’t take our deen (religious studies) from nobodies nor do we take our deen from unknowns. Because it could be that the writer was uneducated or that he was an enemy or that the writer wrote it from his memory and the memory can forget.
The second crucial question is; where did the writer write it from, ie where did he copy it from? Because The Quran isnt written from the head, rather it is written from a copy before it.
We know that the first time the glorious Quran was written it was in front of the Prophet (peace be upon him) on what was available in that era. Thereafter during the time of Our leader Abu bakr As siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) when he summoned Hadrat Zayd Bin Thabit to compile the Quran and write it; He (Zayd bin Thabit) collected all of those pieces which were written in the presence of The prophet (peace be upon him) and copied them onto what became knows as the Bakriyyah As Siddiqiyyah Pamphlets.
Later on During the time of Uthman Bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) when he wanted to make more copies of The Quran; again it was Zayd Bin Thabit who lead the project and Uthman said to Hafsa bint Umar (may Allah be pleased with her) send us the pamphlets so that we can copy them. Hence The Quran is copied from a copy before it and isn’t written from memory.
Therefore when a copy of the Quran reaches us like this truncated the way they found in Sana University or Birminghim University or any other place in the world; it doesnt shake us. I know that some orientalists have taken advantage of this to try and shake the beliefs of the Muslims in their holy book. They said a copy has been found which ages back to the first century etc and it is different from what the Muslims have today and this could review the status of the principles of Islam. None of what they said holds any value.
Our system is based on who wrote and from where. This is how we verify. We ask who wrote it so that we can be sure that he was righteous, protecting of his deen and upheld its rules. We ask from where did he copy so that we can be certain that it was copied from a reliable copy and not from the top his head or from an unreliable copy.
I wanted to draw your attention to this so that if the news reaches you on back of pamphlets or copies of Quran which are old and go back to prophetic times according to examinations: if it agrees and matches what we already have as the Quran then we say welcome. However if it differs from what we have then the realiable is the Quran we have.

A Saudi scholar of the Quran points out that there are vowel and diacritical marks. The text is older — 750-800 A.D. The compilers of the Quran in the 7th century were not very good at stitching the text together..one reads something and suddenly the subject changes. The Quran is filled with bad grammar and contradictions. One moment God speaks I and then You and then He. The Muslims says Christians changed the books and then tells Muslims to consult the books of the JEWS and CHRISTIANS IN THERI POSSESSION if they want to know something. Prophet Mohammed’s first teachers were heretical Christians, Waraqah ibn Nawfal and Bahira and 3 of his 4 companions the Hanafi. The text of the Quran was still being edited in the 8th century. Those who read Classical Arabic well say about 20% of the Quran is basically unintelligible hence the huge numbers of commentaries to try to figure what it means. the big picture is this: there is one God, Jesus is a human messiah. The closest sect at the time were the Ebionites and his cousin Waraqah was a priest of this church and perhaps of Mecca. Go figure. The Christian element lessens in favor of Judaism. Islam, originally know as the Way (=Hebrew name for bible) not submission, on the spectrum is a Gnostic Jewish Messianic sect. Lastly nobody can prove that anything their reliigons says can be proven but they confuse belief with fact. Muslims go ballistic over textual examination that casts doubt on its claims — how insecure of them.

In the Quran is it written that God has given a book with everything you need. So why Hadiths? they had to be reduced from 60,000 to 3,000. Some caliph doesn’t like someone so he says the other guy commits blasphemy. Women did not wear scarves in Arabia 1400 years ago. Sorry, religious texts don’t fall from the sky..they are compiled. As for the many book of the Jews written over 1000 years -that’s there history and formation as a people of God over time. By the way, early Muslims did believe their holy book was perfect or uncreated…that comes as a religion solidifies and forms an identity and in the case of Islam its rejection as a development of the two older religions.
Quran is the first point of reference for all Muslims. He hadith and sunnah are their to help guide Muslims. If any hadith or sunnah contradict the teachings of the Qur’an then we obviously go by the saying of God in the Qur’an.

The oldest complete Quran dates from the 10th century. The text was finally settled by the publication of the King Fouad Royal Text in 1924 now the text most widely used.

The almighty Allah creates signs that indicate his existence. The Muslim, the believer, aknowledges these signs and relates them to his creator and starts worshipping him, which is, mainly overcoming the natural instincts and difficulties and insisting on worshipping him for better or worse. The disbeliever on the other hand finds an explanation that pleases him and do whatever he likes to free him or herselfself from divine instructions. This means a conclusive evidence of the existence of the creator and god will be witnessed when you die or on the day of the resurection.
The almighty Allah says in Quran:
“Do they [then] wait for anything except that the angels should come to them or your Lord should come or that there come some of the signs of your Lord? The Day that some of the signs of your Lord will come no soul will benefit from its faith as long as it had not believed before or had earned through its faith some good. Say, Wait. Indeed, we [also] are waiting.”
(QS. Al-An’aam 6: Verse 158)

After the death of the Prophet and all his companions who had memorized it, it was decided to try to assemble as much as could be found written here and there on various media and talk to people who had memorized parts of it. Mohammed’s personal scribe was given the task of producing a written version. The question is how much of what is in it represents all of it at the time of Mohammed’s death in 632 and how close is the written version to original lost. It’s hard reading because of the editing and arrangement of the material.
It is easy to make claims without evidence
Every text has a history. When it is labeled Sacred and labeled the word of God, literally and everything is of equal importance, rather than God-inspired, the text becomes inviolable and the religion fossilizes into a kind of straight-jacket orthodoxy. Doctrine becomes dogma. Minds are shut down.
Muslims love to tell Christians that when it comes to God and Jesus they got all wrong, but anyone dares to ask them to look into the origins of their religion and examine its claims to Truth they become defensive, then go aggressive…geez what are they afraid of? It’s from them to criticize but anybody ask them to validate their assertions they go ballistic. I have met some who have an open mind and others who just decided to exit.

Many religious people can’t understand something: just because you assert something doesn’t automatically make true, factual and proven. The text or holy books make the same claims, but these are not proof, but self-validation of a belief. Belief is not the same as proof. Still people argue for the truth of something which cannot be proved. They never stop. “it’s true because I or so-and-so says.” This one never get 2 seconds in a court of law or scientific lab.

The Uthman text of the Quran, the ‘official’ from 654 was written without vowels marks. It makes understanding 20% of the text almost impossible because of the possibility of variant readings. One just has to go with what seems most sensible and based on later commentaries. Someone did not edit very well. As for the claim that the text was never changed this proves nothing one way or another about its origins.

The time window of the carbon dating don’t match up to several critical Hadith narratives regarding the canonization and physical act of writing down the Quran using ink and a document such as goatskin. This is a major problem.

UK manuscript is dated from 560AD to 670 AD. But Muhammad got revelation from 610 AD . Proving the manuscript predates Muhammad. That means there could be other Muhammad not necessarily the prophet of Islam.

The dating was made on the parchment , not in the Ink . Carbon dating is literally detecting isotopes led by the killed animal , so even if it was way before 500 , it doesn’t mean it predates Muhammad . This argument has been debunked . You might as well explain how P45 of John dated to c.120-150 was dated at the time of Jesus , at first . Please , be consistent with your writing , and if it were before Muhammad, then you just proved it’s divinity, as it literally depicts historical events that happened to Muhammad is Surat taha as depicted in the teachings of Jacob ( 632) . Be consistent, and don’t believe very misleading headlines .

The earliest Quran should be in the Quraysh dialect for Mohammed to understand it. Dialect of Quraysh. All of them, except for Zaid, were from Quraysh. Uthman said that the dialect of Quraysh should be preferred if they were to fall into conflict with Zaid regarding the dialect, since Muhammad was from the Quraysh tribe. The Quran had been revealed in seven dialects of the Arabic language of the time. At the time there were no diacritical vowels are consonantal dots, making a recital impossible to understand. It really depends, because after the Battle of Yamamah 70 people who knew the Quran had been martyred, and then led the caliph at the time Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (RA) to start a compilation of the Quran , but it was to preserve the Quran and spelling wasn’t taken into account at Zaid Ibn Thabit was the one who had to write it down, then during Uthaman’s caliph the Quran of Abu Bakr’s time was burnt (In Arabic tradition this is respectful) so people don’t get confused, to have a united Quran so divisions aren’t created.
This Quran may be one of the surviving Quran’s of Abu Bakr’s caliph, or may be the Quran of Uthman’s caliph as during Uthman’s caliph it was standardized and spelling was taken into account.
That’s why a direct comparison would be difficult, it’s like trying to compare Old English to Modern English, same with Arabic
How this Quran survived despite being on Goat skin is a pure miracle, as it would have rotted like most of its time, as paper wasn’t around at the time.

Birmingham text is only two pieces of paper, front and back
I only has 33 texts compared to the Hafs 6,236 versus (0.53% of the Quran), and the suras are somewhat incomplete and have textual variations, verse numbering problems
Two Scholars on the Birmingham text;
Efin Rezvan (Russian scholar), was asked to do a lecture on the text by Birmingham University in 2015;
“Birmingham Fragments show several textual variants as well as verse numbering differences.”
“The very early dating of all these fragments-before the reign of Uthman-casts doubt on *both the Islamic tradition” *refer to the next section
“The fact the that the folios were kept for centuries in an iron box, underground can partly explain the early radiocarbon dating”
“Parchment was an expensive material (the skin of an entire animal was used to produce the big folio). Monastic and state scriptoria, located on the territory of Greater Syria, Antiochia, al Hira and Alexandria areas, could store this valuable material (including the donations of the pious laity). These stocks became part of the loot captured by the Arabs in the first years of the conquest. Captured leaves were used for writing the Quran.”
Conclusion; is that we cannot know when the writing took place as the carbon dating only gives a time line to the animal skin, not the writing, and the parchments were written on at a much later date.
Emilio Platti; “pointing out differences to the Sana codex-unquestionably the oldest manuscript (705), which therefore means that this Birmingham fragment is subsequent to the oldest manuscript (Sana).”
