massive improvements mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically, and

Being focused on random stuff (I hope cookies was just an example) means meditating? That’s basically just thinking about something, even if you are trying to get something good out of it, stills just thinking, since this is not going to take you deep into something that will transform you to something better.
Now if you start wondering why you came to this world, what’s the purpose to come to this life, if there is life after death, you will need to discover who is actually the creator of the universe and everything else (including yourself), you will always end up in a book that never lied, that predicts the future and the only hope for the humanity, them you will take so many steps to be saved from the judgment that will come to everybody, after reading and learning all about this book, you will be automatically meditating, because meditating is having a relationship with the spiritual life, and there is only sides: heavens or hell. That’s way more deep than just thinking about why they are cooking this and for who if this is not changing or giving access to the eternal life in heavens.
Question: Do you think if you sit in a quiet place and close your eyes and start thinking about someone that just died trying to reach talk to them in the spiritual life it’s considered meditating? Be careful with those things. We first need to meditates in what our creator says and apply them to your life, because his plans bring you peace and eternal life.
Meditation helps:
1. Deal with STRESS
2. Helps with study
3. Helps to making decisions
4. Sleep well
5. Attention
nate i want to try meditating everyday but i feel like i will always forget, is there any way you remind yourself when to do it?
Mindfulness is a privilege, it sounds great when life is good but when it sucks, why would you want to be present? to be focused on the now? to be alone with your thoughts?? That’s the point where you actually protect yourself by escaping through movies/books, embracing distractions or consuming “bad” things to take the edge off
When life is difficult, meditation can actually help the most. It changed my life when I was recovering from a very bad addiction. It helps you see that what is causing you pain is actually your thoughts about a situation, not the situation itself. I hope more people try it.
@JAYZUPP There are healthy and unhealthy forms of escapism. Nate for example has been traveling from one country to another and is living in his van, this can be perceived as a form of escapism
@Andrew Baur Schoer Maybe I will try it too, it’s just that Nate makes it sound like it’s so simple and easy, but even just 10 minutes can be really hard

@Yael Maimon indeed, the first 100 times you meditate can be hard. You’re looking within, and in doing so are seeing all aspects of your mind. This is scary at first, but it becomes a source of immense strength after the fear dissipates. I hope that if you do try it, you’ll respond here 🙂 I would like to hear what you experience.

I have started praying the rosary every day, and it definitely gets you into a meditative state. Just throwing it out there to anyone interested in a religious component to this.
I agree with you, every but every single time I am praying the rosary I feel so so much peace, I feel like I am in deep meditative state, it is really so so amazing I like to do it slow, a bit slower than normal speed and it is really a magic
Daily prayer is the best form of meditation. It gives you alone time with God to clear your mind and focus on what’s important in life.
my attention span is so messed up to the point that I needed to “watch” this with my eyes closed so I’m just hearing it and stop myself from scrolling through recommendations and comments that might lead me to not finishing the video.
That would be like a guided meditation! Attention can be cultivated with practice, which meditation can really help with.

Meditation has many benefits in the martial arts arena. Tai chi is rooted in WU CHI meditation. The practice helps tame the human tendency to be captivated by “shiny” things. It’s important to note that the meditator is not to imagine he is in some fantasy land; he is very much here, now. Japanese martial arts have the concept known as MU SHIN, mind-no mind, wherein you are calm AND aware of your surroundings. You can react to attacks because you are not distracted by anything “shiny.”
I know this is WAY off topic, and the few comments I’ve left in the past were a bit saucy. But seriously, have you looked into becoming a hand model? Just a thought.

Meditation is a wonderful practice, a way to get to know what’s going on behind the scenes of your own mind and experience. Over time and with practice, the space between situation and reaction gets wider and your ability to choose your reaction improves.

I tried mediation a few years ago and I need to do it again. One thing that nobody mentions is that… Meditation gives you greatest working ideas for life, business, relationships. When the noise stops. I’ve read this in one article and that’s why I tried it then. And it worked. I felt super inspired. Maybe Nate just forgot this point, but it’s one of the biggest benefits.
The last part is extremely good. Just being content with yourself, the thought and emotions and not need to fill the time.
