It is the world’s most expensive spice, and the crop offers hope in a country teetering on the brink of economic disaster.

I’m sure that this high value crop will help 🙂 I don’t understand why more attention isn’t paid to Afghan agriculture? A successful part of the Afghan economy that has kept ticking over come what may but has recently been knocked back by a historic two year long drought which is probably a climate crisis event. I would have thought that investing in drought resistant regenerative agriculture would be an obvious development, pilot projects could start straight away covering all of the main types of farming carried out in Afghanistan and there is already expertise in drought resistant regenerative farming in Southern Asia region.

Saffron is a favourite of mine. Perhaps a goldmine for those who figures out how to grow it optimally. It looks to me this saffron flower still is grown and harvested in a traditional manor, interesting.
It has to be harvested in the way it is because saffron threads are very delicate. Also only 3 threads per flower

India banned shipments from Afghanistan because they use sanfron trade routas a drugs transport rout and tons of opium is trafficked to india inorder to make money for terrorist groups. Many country banned Afghanistan dry fruits because of same reasons

I find afghanistan’s covid mask use interesting btw. surgical masks seem very popular with women now under the taliban, I suspect that it feels more voluntary and less oppressive to them than wearing a niqab. meanwhile, almost none of the men wear masks. I saw one video of a new courtain-segregated college class, and the female students all wore surgical masks except for ~10% niqabs, while none of the male students wore masks.
For the Cameras Muslim Women are not highly encouraged to be on Camera for Modesty reasons but when alone they are free..
Hijab creates a barrier between men and women and enforces automatically some behaviors on the women that they observe even sometimes without their knowledge instinctively
So i see it as wise that u do not interfere in that aspect of women rights coz u might think u are helping only for u to be hated and make things worse believe I have seen alot of people get embarrassed
In Afghan tradition,it’s unethical for women to talk or meet unknown persons. They often don’t appear on camera for same reason.
By the way,Niqab is far better in case of talking and breathing than masks in my own experience.

Try to produce spices based on international demand, try other than saffron , saffron cultivation is difficult.
most of afghanistan is not suitable gor most crops, but saffron happens to be one that is best grown in such conditions. both saffron and poppies grow well in this dry mountain environment.

afghanistan is huge and best for farming with cheap labour, while many countries dont have any land for any more farms. grow avocados, saffron etc demanded by westerners and maybe raise cattle and export beef too. just use those lands somehow and you will become rich.
