Landslides and flash floods have killed dozens of people in Brazil.
This is the scene of the disaster in the Petropolis region just north of Rio de Janeiro, where the search for survivors continues.
The area north of Rio de Janeiro was hardest hit – and the death toll is expected to rise.

@krnpowr don’t be pathetic bro. the Brazil faces these problems when it has high intensity rain concentrated in a short period. for example in many cities in Brazil were built where rivers passed. Several cities in Brazil lack storm drains or are often clogged.
Chop down the rain forest and the water has to go somewhere… expect more of this sort of flooding.

When an atmosphere warms up, it can hold more water and more ‘energy’ – and so what used to be heavy rain turns into a deluge. When heavy rain falls on a forest the water is taken underground by the roots of trees. When there aren’t enough trees then the deluge has to go somewhere else and so it turns into torrents and causes mud slides.

Sometimes it has rained double the expected for an antire month in less than an hour in some places in Brazil, so yeah, this no unique event.
