The man who has tried, and failed, to become Kenya’s president four times, is running for office again.
This time though, Raila Odinga has the backing of the political establishment, which has worked against him in the past.
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has endorsed his former archrival for the country’s top job, weeks after their parties joined forces ahead of presidential and parliamentary elections in August.

That is very classy of U Kenyatta after all the problems the Odingas caused his family. The Odingas have been a thorn in Kenyatta’s flesh for a long time. From fathers to sons. The first Odinga stabbed Jomo Kenyatta in the back. And his son continued the family feud. For Uhuru to bury the hatchet is exceedingly classy.

All stars have aligned for Raila to become President this time around. First, he has chosen a non-corrupt female as a deputy president. Second, Kenyans see that Raila needs to be a president as a reward for his political struggles over the years especially given his advancing age. Third, most Kenyans see him as an experienced politician that will steer the country in the right direction, unlike Ruto whose erratic behavior and corruption scandals leave questions than answers. Fourth, Raila’s win will be historic because it will mark the first time of a power transfer to a new president that is not Kikuyu or Kalenjin.
The guy has been in politics since 2008… please show me the results he has gotten.
President Xi had major results for the counties he was responsible for before he became president, so people knew he would be a good leader and bring great results for the country. Show me the results of Odinga for the past 30 years.

Protection of Kenya’s water catchment areas (like Mau Forest), Kenya’s new constitution, construction of major roads and infrastructure, and protection of human rights and freedoms of Kenyans have all had the input of Raila Odinga. Without Raila in Kenya, Kenya will be like the neighbouring dictatorships such as Uganda, Tanzania Sudan, Ethiopia etc. Kenya is a beacon of democracy and freedoms in the East African region largely because of Raila’s fights for freedoms.
