Critics accuse the former colonial power of failing to improve security.
The UN says thousands of people have been killed and nearly three million displaced since 2015, by violence linked to armed groups.

You really have no clue how this works. This country is not Afghanistan, where the US controlled their government, and funds for 20 years. The only foreign nation that could freeze any of their assets is France, because the country has millions in a French bank. Realistically though you cant freeze assets of countries who’s greatest wealth is in the land. All the west can do is what Biden just did, invite the African leaders to their country and hope they please them. Other then that countries like Angola, South Africa are more tied to China, and Russia then any others outside of the African Union.

I was dissappointed to see the Ghanian president pleading with a foreign power at the African Leaders Summit to resolve a regional matter. This is what president Kagame of Rwanda was talking about that African leaders wait until they are in London, Paris or Washington to start adressing national, regional and continental issues. Its a fundamental weakeness and a serious mistake.
