Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of a “barbaric act” in his first public comments on the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam, which has caused widespread flooding.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who has accused Moscow of destroying the Russian-held dam, said Russia-backed forces were failing in their efforts to evacuate residents.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for a “comprehensive investigation” to establish the cause of the Nova Kakhovka explosion, following separate calls with Zelenskyy and Putin. Erdogan said an inquiry could be set up to include representatives from the United Nations, Ukraine, Russia and the international community.

Why would Russia blow up the dam?
1. Prevent Ukraine from using it to cross the Dnipr
2. Widen the Dnipr river to make amphibious crossings more difficult
3. Be able to move defensive forces to elsewhere along the front
4. Nullify some gains Ukrainians had with special ops on the south river banks
5. Threaten the nuclear power plant and potentially cause a nuclear incident (all the while blaming Ukraine for it)
6. Punish Ukrainians by destroying their infrastructure.
On the downside for Russia, it also means that Crimea loses its water access, but I assume Russia might think that Crimea will be lost eventually anyway

Russia was in control of the side of the dam that suddenly got destroyed. They also were in control of the water levels prior to the destruction. This is not the first time Russia does this in this exact area – the Soviets did it during WW2 and tens of thousands of Ukrainians died.
Remember, it is not Ukraine invading Russia and it isn’t Ukraine leveling entire cities in Ukraine and constantly targeting Kiew with missiles and drones. Russia started this war when they crossed the border and have brought nothing but destruction and terrible atrocities.

The aim was to prevent damage in case of nuclear war explosions. It is built from such strong materials to function at least 400 years. The thickness of the walls are tens of meters. It is impossible to ruin such a dam from outside.

In WW2, the Allies had to use THREE 4-TON bombs to destroy a German dam made w/ Reinforced Concrete. Ukraine does not have a missile capable of delivering even ONE 4-Ton warhead. There was no way the Ukrainians could have snuck 4-tons of explosives into Russian controlled area and place it next to the dam w/o being detected.

As long as Russia is losing 600-800 soldiers a day and till now lost 25.000 military vehicles you have to understand that a football match may seem undecided till the last minute, and then it’s all over when Ukraine scores. What this tries to say is, that Just because you think there isnt too much movement on the battlefield does not mean the war is not happening or not in fast track. Russia is over 210.000 soldiers dead (let alone wounded or missing in action) and Russia doesnt have a magical tree that produces tanks and military vehicles. The stocks are huge in Russia. It will be interesting to see who objects to the investigation, as proposed by President Erdogan, for establishing the cause or who was responsible for the destruction of the dam.
