The United States presidential candidate is running on a third-party ticket, which historically gives him no chance of winning the White House in 2024.
In a wide-ranging interview with The Bottom Line, West tells host Steve Clemons that the country’s political elites are not interested in a robust conversation on wealth and justice, and that he aims to force that conversation onto the national stage.

In the typical manner of an *adolescent “mean girl,”* _Karine Jean-Pierre_ already made a catty and thoroughly uninspired quip – _YAWN_ – about “crystal balls” and “auras” in reference to Marianne Williamson’s candidacy. I would imagine they would display more intelligence, and attempt to use a more _respectable_ or _classy_ approach with a noted scholar and intellect such as Dr. Cornel West, instead challenging him on ideological grounds and attacking his lack of political appointments. Nevertheless, Washington insiders and the “powers that be” are surely already feverishly scrambling about devising ways to diminish his influence and the impact of his message, and ways to otherwise keep him out of the conversation or limit his ability to speak freely for fear of him awakening, expanding or otherwise influencing people’s consciousness.

In year 2014, BBC published an articule – “US is an oligarchy, not a democracy”, by by Princeton University Prof Martin Gilens and Northwestern University Prof Benjamin. The article already stated even in 2014, if policymaking is dominated by powerful business organisations and a small number of affluent Americans, then America’s claims to being a democratic society are seriously threatened.
