If I do a video on Grahams story what should I mention
Damn I’m the 11th like on a graham video
Good thing my hose is hooked up to the water softener. Check mate.
@Cdaragorn It’s the standard, especially on tract homes and newer homes. The main reason is for irrigation/sprinklers. Your plants don’t want soft water, they want all of the extra minerals that a water softener removes. The house I grew up in was built in the 50s even and had interior and exterior water separate. It also doesn’t require extra plumbing like you’re describing. The line just splits as it comes to the home.
@Evan Shively Ok you seem to be talking about something very different. The “exterior” connections that come directly out the side of the house are always part of the homes system. There are then sometimes connections out on the lawn that come out from a separate line branched off from the same line that heads into the home.
But in my experience having hose connections off of that line is unusual. I had to tell my landscaper we wanted them to put in some or they wouldn’t have because it’s not something normally done.
@Cdaragorn You’re trying as hard as you can right now. I’m not talking about something entirely different. You clearly understood what I described and just want to argue. This has become a part of residential building code in many high population areas. For example, you would have to work your butt off to fid a home that doesn’t split the lines in a place like Summerlin.
Have u tested ur water to see how many parts per million. Could still be 50+ which wouldn’t work for car washing.
@Cdaragorn any home that had the water softner under the sink
and any home where the hose hookup was not near the water softner so grabbed off the city water side
because apart from washing cars why would you want to waste the chemicals and filters on the grass
I still get spots at the nearest car wash though. Maybe they just not good
Make sure you select spot free rinse
Buy an RV filter and attach it to your hose, no need to spend money every time just to wash your car
You sir are a gentleman and a scholar.
Except that the car wash continuously dumps soap in the water
don’t do that, just dry your car with a leaf blower or microfiber towels
@Sive Trex.v2if you don’t use any soap, the car wash soap resurfaces the dirt then the microfiber collects that dirt, if you use micro fiber without any soap you will scratch the hell out of your car. That’s why you use it when the soap is foamy, then you wash the soap out and it’s dirt free , then you can use the microfiber on the remaining water because there’s no dirt any more, and if you do scratch you car, just use Mequiars ultimate polish, and then mequiars ultimate compound. You car will be more shiny then what the factory did.
@Gab Juneauthey don’t because the impeller that pushes the air isn’t even connected to the exhaust of the leaf blower 😂
@Kai Thomsen mmhmm 👌
@Smoshylife so does driving
@Jordan Kash The aerodynamics and the fact that the front of the car shows its a lot easier on the car than 100 mph winds
First rule of car washing: do it in the shade. You lost me with all the other nonsense.
The more you know….!
oh no, water spots, the bane of human existence
I seen my neighbor washing his truck every week with a well pump and after a couple weeks I finally felt like it was messed up not to tell him that he’s washing with well water that it is highly corrosive on your vehicle and I pointed out that his truck would look like his white vinyl fences covered in orange rust stains if he keeps on doing it . he quit doing it and started washing at a carwash😅😅
or just dont use well pump water, thats known to have tons of minerals that arent filtered.
or properly dry the vehicle, and dont let it air dry or bake in the sun.
Or you can hook a filtration system up to your well? Are yall that inept?
The guy is old probably didn’t know any better but he don’t do it anymore after I told him how bad it is for the vehicle
@brianv1988 not hard to install a well water filter but sure, you taught an old dog a useless new trick and gave a corperation more money and a new customer 😀✊️
@Kai Thomsen what are you against helping out small businesses
stop copying Upflip. Leave the young ppl alone
In northern states, the biggest mistake when washing your own car is…washing your own car!
fyi wear white, not black in the heat. if anything grab a light-colored hat with a wide brim.
Never been to a car wash that didn’t leave water spots. 🤷🏻♂️
It’s more than a couple quarters lol it’s like $10. They give you a minute per dollar which is ridiculous because nobody can wash their car in five minutes.
wash in the morning when its cool, and wash in the shade.
This has got to be coming from someone who owns a car wash. Total bs
No bro I get my scat packed detailed Profesional for 180 with interior exterior and clay bar wax and engine bay in Dallas
That’s cheap hope there no corners being cut
Use a clean microfiber towel to dry your car – no spots. If shampooing leaves scratches your sponge is dirty and you’ve missed a few prep steps.
Thanks for these absolutely vital pieces of advice.
Most car washes do not filter or soften the water. It’s the same tap water you have at home. If you’re worried about spotting, then buy an in-line filter.
@Dyldog not saying pitbull was lying at all. Every wash has a spot free rinse option, but unless there’s a guy out there with a towel it’s not spot free.
@Anthony Morris if you’re doing it yourself you’re probably gonna bring a towel tho
@Dyldog true, but if having a spot free rinse only works if you towel dry the vehicle yourself it’s a sham.
@Anthony Morris ShamWow
They are usually forced to recycle (filter, treat, and reuse) their water by regulations. That is why you shouldn’t drink the water from a car wash hose and that is why they all offer “spot free” rinse – they just run that pre-filtered water through a deionizer to knock down the dissolved solids which prevents water spotting.
How do I wipe rust spots.
Inline filter on my hose water before my pressure washer
Water doesn’t matter. Technically does.
My tap water is good enough. It is considered as soft water. Still some minerals but I still dry my cars instead of letting them air dry
Even car wash bay water leaves spots. So WRONG. Oh i forgot hes washing a already clean car. Ctfu
No reason to spend money at a car wash unless your lazy.
Yeah I was my own car. If washing your car means leaving it out when it rains
Spot free is extra. Regardless the do it yourself saves money and water.
Maybe in Cali or NY but everywhere its just city water or Recycled use water from the place…so its the same as your hard water from the house hose
people focus on stupid crap. There are people who can’t eat and in the US and other other countries they are worried about scratching the paint on their car. People are dumb.
Just dry it fast before water dries Stop making it difficult
He loves to wax on wax of backwards and forwards with his
hand???
Recycled water at the car wash has a lot of containments including oil & gas that will damage car paint way more than your water from your garden hose
Wrong!
Hahaha, I’ve done work in several car washes, they had absolutely no water treatment. No way to remove minerals.
BALLS I’ll take a couple of spots to save some money. Give me a break.
Use your hose, wash in the evening after everything has cooled down, and use a dedicated drying towel.
Asking a mobile detailer reliant on location restrictions isn’t the best source of information for the public.
Or just towel off the car after. No spots
If you dry your car off well after washing this isn’t an issue
Just dry your car with a microfiber towel
Just dry your car with a micro fibre towel.
Car manufacturers probably apply paint that meant to be washed with tap water and withstand water from weather conditions.
A couple quarters? Tell me where I can go for quarters
Good thing microfiber drying towels exist
That’s extra bro. My car is still clean
This dudes first mistake is using those cheap microfibers with the edges. If you use those no matter what your car is going to get scratches
my garage spigot is softened.
I’ve been detailing for a hot minute and I can honestly say that these are definitely not mistakes… just quit being lazy
Been using the hose method on my bmw and still looks brand new.😂😂
The last time i used a car wash the water left droplet marks
I just put liquid suds, just enough water to get a good lather on my car before a good rain storm go inside and make coffee, wait till the rain stops and go squeegee the whole car the moment it stops. Works half decent. Besides im usually too busy getting it taken care of under the hood first to be bothered.
That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard it’s gonna leave water stains on your paint if you leave the water to dry in the sun if you wipe it and then there’s no more water how can It leave stains
Couple quarters? About 40
That’s not true. Once rinsing the car off, make sure to dry it as quick as you can with a microfiber towel, this will prevent any water spots.
You can’t just say the hose water is hard, it is different in different places. Depends on which water treatment plant the water comes from, what chemicals they use and what their water source is. Saying “hose water” is like saying “cup water” it doesn’t say anything about the water.
Dry your car off with a towel and no spots
That’s what the water softeners for buddy 😉
Whats up with these bad financial advices
Not going to trust recycled car wash water that smells rancid even when mixed with soaps.
He lost Graham at “a couple quarters”.
Install a softener in your home with one dedicated softwater hosebibb. You’re welcome
But my house has a water softener system, so I am going to stay at home.
Get a $20 RV/marine carbon filter. Hooks right into any standard hose
Why Graham dressed like a middle aged soccer dad? 😂
I use well water with so much lime that it destroys appliances in a couple years.
And while theyr are lots of spots it still looks just fine.
Its going to depend on the color but unless its a special car worth alot or museum like dont worry about the water
Just wax it and it wont harm the car.
dude, thank you. So helpful
Type of water is not gonna be a major factor. Much bigger is the type of wash mit you use. No sponge, paper towel, hand towel. Micro fiber only
Hey Graham is that Guam 🇬🇺 on your hat? Hafa Adai
There’s no DIY car washes anywhere near me. Like, not within an hour’s drive.
I just go thru the spot-free laser wash and call it a day. Not that serious
I guess the guy doesn’t know that 98% of self serve car washes have a strict no bucket/hand washing rule.
Holy crap, spot free doesnt mean it’s softened or filtered. What terrible advise.
There’s multiple things you can do: wash in the shade, use a DI filter, use rinseless wash, or a quick detail spray when drying for lubrication and to remove water spots
I screw a $10 RV water filter onto my hose bib, and attach my hose to it. Instant spot-free water. Replace every 4-6 months depending on use.
A couple quarters?? Sheesh that’s cheap
Hes giving away all our juice 😂
Go to a carwash
This guy didn’t watch karate kid
Camper water filter ✌️ just leaving that one for the people who are smart
*If you live in the USA. Plenty of other countries do not have hard water.
Not true at all. They do not use water softeners at 90% of locations unless they are on their own live well.
