#Florida #Boat #Beach
What if it could be put on a trailer, and driven out of there?
Then just look for a boat dock + ramp somewhere.
it dont work like that with sail boats. the keel and the masts and the 35k lbs weight all hamper towing on land efforts
“Florida Man!”
He’s from Georgia
I’m a sailor and can tell you. He could have weighed ankor. Or actually sailed it. Seems he only knows how to use the motor . A real sailor would not have gotten in this situation and yea he needs to get it off the beach on his expense
Anchor snapped
Florida gets really tough on boats in the public eye, but not scattered and sunk on the AICW
Best of luck to him. I’m hoping he gets back on the ocean again soon. Have some compassion people🤦♂️Sometimes bad things happen to good people.
It’s not like he did it intentionally. The same way they’re going to have it moved if he doesn’t move it, is the same way they can help him get it back into the water. He declined help because he didn’t want to cause any further damage or put people in harms way…he doesn’t sound like a bad guy or that he’s trying to be difficult, they need to just help him out instead of threatening him.
Exactly. But government isn’t in the business of being nice or helping those they should serve. They’re only interested in taking advantage of any chance they can get to fleece you for as much money as they can.
@brailrice So true!💯🎯
MAINTENANCE
NUFF SAID
He lucky it didn’t sink, the EPA would have fined the crap out of him.
He’s got enough money to afford this incredibly expensive boat, but he can’t afford to move it off the beach?
Sailboats in Florida are incredibly cheap because they cost so much to own and maintain (as is this mans predicament). I paid $17,000 for my 37 foot boat and it costs me $19,000 per year in storage and slip fee’s. All of the insurance companies have moved out of Florida, so trying to insure against something like this happening is impossible.
Not how it works. Most sailors in Florida on old boats like this are living on less income than your apartment neighbor.
used sailboats are surprisingly cheap.
Get some empty barrels with lids and fill the barrels with water remove everything you can but you want the barrel of water to keep you heavy so you don’t keep going further in the barrel need to be down inside …with the tide at its highest point double up your anchors up front make sure you got a good Stern Anchor you want to get your bow facing out wait for the highest point tide dump the barrels and pump It out your boat throw sail’s up when the wind hits her it will also help buy tilting it over one thing you need to be very sure of though if it doesn’t come completely out the first time make sure if you’re going to go back on your side that you keep the high side to the ocean don’t try to pull that Stern anchor in just let her fly as you go and if you have electric winches on the front use them it took me 3 days to get off the beach like this but I was able to do it without the help anybody 35 ft choley with a full keel
In a storm that kept driving back but I literally sailed over sand and water
And yes I had no motor at one point I was over 100 yd from the water and yes I lived on my boat and still do…you can do this……
YOU’RE A SAILOR….
City, the most noble and neighorly thing to do is to help this man.
Unfortunately it getting off the beach in a dumpster
It’s a sailboat why did he not sail back out to sea?
SHUT UP AND GET YOUR BOAT OUT OF THERE
THIS HIGHLIGHTS THE IMPORTANCE OF REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON YOUR VEHICLE(S)
D U H
And even with the highest maintenance, it’s a machine where things go wrong.
He should pitch a tent and fly a pride flag, then they would let him stay.
god bless his white soul
Where’s all the social media influences? They can’t help thus sailor for 20 million views? That’s the man’s home c’mon man . The city is absolutely heartless
He’s crazy for declining help. What he going to do…. Push it out. He could at least try. Not buying the “not wanting anyone to get hurt” excuse.
He lost me when he declined help.
It was due to the liability and danger to those offering the help. Thinking of others.
If he abandons the boat, the city will pay to have it destroyed and removed. Why not just pay to HELP the guy…. Tax monies are used all the time for emergency services. If it was a house in fire, there would be TONS of money spent to save it.
Good point about the house on fire. City money is always used to help citizens. That’s what the govt is there for. The safety and to promote the general welfare
@Matt Foster What Marxist Bull****
I would except that plan.
Dockage is expensive.
This is a faafo situation. Sea tow cost $199 a year for the GOLD plan and that is without discounts.
Hang in there fair sailor, the tides will rise again and you’ll make it back to sea.
