I don’t know how he can call Israel an Apartheid country while there are 14 Arab representatives in the Keneset and while an Arab Judge sentenced the president of Israel to imprisonment? Israel might have done some wrongdoing throughout these 75 years but I just wanted to know if by his standard the Palestinians have the right to come back to their homes, does all the Jews also have the right to go back to their home in all the Arab countries who spelled them and confiscated all their wealth?
You have all these claims that Israel is not an occupier or apartheid (it is) very well documented in written form in books and reports of renowned international organizations.
I agree totally with all he says about Israel and about nickel and diming over details. If you’ve met Israelis you know that’s their approach to haggling about everything. I’d also say Israel should be proposing to provide, or partioate in, a huge rebuilding package for a Palestinian state, like the Marshall Plan that rebuilt Germany after WWIi. But I don’t think the Palestinians are blameless for the failure to resolve the conflict. The Palestinian leadership has never put forward any proposal of its own for a peace solution that didn’t mean the end of a Jewish state. Israel is simply not going to accept the right of return, however just it might be, so Palestinians must give that up if they want peace. So I think Daniel, while right about Israel, omits that side of the story
If Dareen gets her family home in Haifa back does Daniel gets his somewhere in Eastern Europe or perhaps Spain where his relatives might have lived for 400 years before the Inquisition kicked them east? And where did they live before that? Ancient Judea? Does it only count if the original owner is still alive? What about every other country that pushed out their indigenous people? Glass houses and all that.

One thing bothers me in general, which is present in that discussion, triggers me – why conversation now days starts from speech about nationality? Why I do not hear first of that I’m a human, instead I hear I’m brit, I’m Jew, I’m Palestinian, I’m 10% Italian + 5 % Mongolian, +13% Hispanic + 12.3% Arab, +11.8 German, + 2.41% Norwegian. Wear their nationality and skin color as some badge of honor. I do not see human to human interactions. As their nationality, race, skin color, religious affiliation provides them some benefits – superiority, credibility or takes them away. I want to see a world where ppl say that they a humans first and foremost and ban their nationalities.
Some countries feels do not have anything except their nationality-ethnic identity as humans they are nothing special but as their skin color Giants! That country for that skin color – please show your DNA test papers! Feels as some canine showcase – only that breed gets medal If it has right tail, ears, nose, fur.

I have to be honest here. I try to educate myself on different opinions considering this conflict.
I don’t think that either of the extreme opinions are accurate, so the solution is somewhere in the middle.
That’s why my criticism on AlJazeera in comparison to many western media outlets is that they only invite people on the show that agree completely with the overall idea that is being propagated and don’t leave any room for guests or opinions that have some aspects where they disagree.
I think that is crucial to find a middle ground.

He has some interesting theories and there may be some level of truth to them but he failed to convince me his views are accurate enough to fully appreciate both sides situation enough to propose a practical peace.

That was a wonderful, sensitive and uplifting exchange. I was trying to communicate with a friend about these terrible things that Israel with the backing of the US does to Palestinians and he said, “stop sending me all of this anti semitic stuff”. I stopped sending it but I don’t conflate being anti Israeli apartheid with being anti semitic because I’m not against Jewish people per se. There are many fine, wonderful Jewish people who believe in justice for all and human rights and who vocally oppose Israel’s illegal occupation and all of the abuses towards the Palestinians. I am against those terrible policies and those who use violence and force people off their land and there are many non Jews who support apartheid and I oppose them as well. I agree with Daniel that Israel’s security depends on Palestine’s security. Security comes through mutual respect. Netanyahu has done more in the past 76 days to weaken Israel security than one could imagine. I hope that world leaders will be as horrified as I am at the ethnic cleansing and genocide that is taking place and hold Israeli leaders criminally responsible for their actions. This idea that Israel is immune from international criminal law has to be challenged. The problem is that the US also does not accept the jurisdiction of the ICC over seeing its war crimes and they have been shielding Israel from the court. Impunity for Israel needs to end.
