Not understanding the context shouldn’t give journalists a permission to report, do Aljazira knows who are the m23 or why they are fighting? Can they get on the ground and interview both sides and get its facts together. I come from North Kivu and I still find it difficult to understand the area/region from which the Tutsis were collectively expelled. Where exactly where you chased? Who was responsible for this expulsion and when did it take place? What of the other tribes living there? Aren’t the conflicts in these regions generally rooted in inter-community tensions, often fuelled by Rwanda and Uganda to ensure absolute control over mineral resources? For years, Rwanda has effectively controlled these resources through the presence of its military forces disguised as the RCD, CNDP or M23 in the Kivus, but doesn’t this always lead to a conflict that could have been resolved peacefully by the native Tuties, Hutus, Hundes, Nyangas, Nandes, Pygmees, etc.? Moreover, hasn’t this conflict turned all the tribes originally from this region into refugees living in various camps? If so, why is it that only a single tribe is stubbornly victimising itself, when it is often obvious that many of its members are even the instigators and close collaborators of Rwanda and Uganda?

Last time kabila was in charge and I believe Zim, Angola, Namibia were involved for SADC along with Chad. There are more than 100 rebel groups in eastern Congo but they are singling out M23 alone which shows bias yet the banyamulenge face an existential threat from the former Rwanda army in Congo army (FDLR).

What? The UN state that Tutsi are ethnic Rwandans. When the Europeans colonised Africa, they recorded the tribes in all of their captured territories. There is no record of Tutsi existing within Congolese territory until after the Rwandan genocide. The M23 and Tutsi are ethnic Rwandans who fled into Congo during the Rwandan genocide. They then immediately began genociding local populations and claiming land. This is a Rwandan problem that has destabilised the whole region. Now you’ve got ethnic Rwandans born in Congolese territory, trying to claim land as their own. They didn’t exist there prior to the Rwandan genocide and UN records, as well as European coloniser records show this.

The solution that Congo wants is not war but politics. The Federal Government must be disarmed and returned to Rwanda. M23 rebels are majorly formed by eastern congo tribes like Banyamulenge and all Kinyarwanda speaking tribes who have been victims of so much segregation and have been systematically ethnically cleansed just because they speak Kinyarwanda as their language. In the past they’ve been denationalised and have been called Rwandese yet they ended up under Congo’s jurisdiction during the partition of Africa just like other crossboarder tribes. The rebels fighting the government want their people living in poor conditions in refugee camps across greatlakes and beyond to be resettled back in their lands but the government doesn’t want. To understand their cause, u need to read more about the agreements they signed with the Congolese government in 2013 but the government didn’t implement them thus justifying their fight. They’re literally a people who are fighting for their own survival and genuine causes that need to be addressed as soon as possible but the world don’t normally hear their side of the story.
