Protesters in Lebanon have tried to occupy the Central Bank as the nation’s currency dropped to new lows against the dollar.
The government has been in talks with the International Monetary Fund for weeks, but there are no signs of an imminent deal on a rescue package.

Lebanon needs Hezbollah. If it wasn’t for them Israel would have occupied and annexed parts of south Lebanon already. This makes enemies of the US and Saudi Arabia and of course Israel and destabilises Lebanese government – because there’s a political and military group inside the country which makes its own alliances and follows its own policy.
International finance will also never bail out Lebanon because the tradition of politics there is sectarian and corrupt to the bone.
