Quick note: There are quite a few people impersonating me on the internet in an attempt to defraud my viewers. It’s a shame this is happening. Please remember that I NEVER sell anything, I don’t have special memberships or courses and I will NEVER ask you for money. Stay safe everyone!
I’m 45……
noted but i definitely appreciate this video! i feel like i’ve been having the same thought process as you without the specific numbers yet for my current circumstance only but i figured seeing/showing examples of it would help out a lot to understand more. i appreciate you doing so a bit in this video as well and please include more so we can follow along!! :))
Thank you Nate mate. I learn so much from you. Keep it up amigo
Wow that pathetic! People need to find other ways
don’t worry we love you…
TBH I think that you talk a little to much. No hate here, but sometimes I find myself not being able to focus on the main subject because you go in so many directions instead on going right to the spot.
Capitalism only! No Marxism!!
How u gonna flex that super car tho 😂 lol
How is he making the money?
Im 18 today and still too young to comprehend why life is the way it is. My parents had a hard time trying to understand themselves what life really had to offer . Today i am in a country where freedom is only for the rich and i see many people struggling with life
I’m petty sure at 24 I was still doing keg stands and eating 2 day old pizzas, good job!
Nate, wait until you have children 🙂 Great video, mate. Keep up the good work.
I see poor people everywhere at all times , does luck play a role in life , does our existence even matter to anyone at this time where social media is making everyone mindless human machines , does anyone care about this comment …. maybe today no one realises but you will be forgotten sooner or later so make the best of it always since tomorrow can be a good day if you take the right decisions today .
if i was ur friend i will grape yo from ur left foot & i let you tell find your self @ the gym
Hey Nate. Really like the concept of this video. My goal is to retire when i’m in my early 30’s (26 right now). So right there with you on your mindset. But I would appreciate it if you made a sequel to this video explaining HOW you are going about it right now. Most of the video was conceptual which was fine. But I think an in-depth version on your actual “plan” would be informative and relatable to all people who are trying to retire early. Thanks!
Listen to me @Nate , I Refuse to get crushed by the numbness of this life , i refuse to give up , i hate this world yet i can not imagine anything different , i can not make it better for me or myself and i feel lost in this journey named Life , i appreciate your videos thol7ll
Too bad what I’m passionate about is basically a coinflip in terms of career, for it to be viable you’d need to have financial independence at 16yo, so be born to the right parents, at least I can become that parent, even though that would not make me happy
My retirement plan is dying 😰
What are you retiring from? Some context would be helpful.
Is this a commitment to delete your YouTube channel at 24? Hehe
Here in india people have very weak mentality. Most only respect people who retire in their late 60s and don’t even give a thought to the idea of early retirement
Nate, this video spoke volumes to me! I’ve been considering a plan to retire in my thirties but I don’t see a way to grow my investments quick enough without going into serious defensive mode. I’ll have to rewatch your content for more tips but if you could make a video going into slightly more detail, that would be awesome! Thank you as always for the quality content 🙂
I won’t get there as quick as I’d like. I figure I’ll be working full time for at least 20 years (I didn’t start until age 30 due to being in school for all of my 20s). My husband and I just bought a house, so between the new mortgage payment and the student loans we’re paying off, it’s going to take a while. But, with any luck, we’ll still retire 20 years earlier than usual.
Does Nate have a video on his upbringing? His parents career and stuff?
Hi! Nice video! “Expedited,” not “expidited”
Love this!
at 22, i thought i was too old and behind the ball to start a retirement plan LMAO i was smart enough, but not informed enough; the information wasn’t as readily available as it is today. i also didn’t make enough money at the time and didn’t even know a way to make the kind of money that would enable me to strategize more than one year into the future. now i’m in my 30s. i’d gone back to school and gotten my bachelor in business administration last year. and with my current (and growing) salary in defense contracting, enough stock market winners, and a little bit of luck, i can realistically retire inside the next decade if i wanted
i wanted to retire with 19… now i would be happy to even come close to the 224K retirement-pansion :/
I’m planning on retiring at 30. Grinding my entire 20’s to amass enough wealth to live off of passive income and investments for the rest of my life
I’ve been thinking like this for a couple of years now and I’m only 17 any tips on where to get started if I wanted to retire by the age of 30
Living off of $15,000 a year in 2020?
Maybe I should retire at 50
I love your clear thinking on this subject
Nate is wiser than many people who are much older than him
I can see someone has been reading “The 4-Hour Work Week”
very high quality videos.
Most people today do not think long term and they simply resign themselves to the lives, salaries, jobs, and debt that everyone else carries. Those who take the time to ponder and think outside of the box are the 1% that will actually financially succeed.
Hey Nate. I like this video, it’s interesting. However, what is not mentioned is that you would really need a substantial income to put enough money away to save up enough for the 3% rule. Like a really substantial income. Times have changed in the last 40 years also. Our parents graduated from school and jumped into careers. Those career options are no longer available from the jump. Most young adults are living with their parents longer to not only pay off their school fees but to work a “standard” job until that career position comes along. Globalization has shrunk the immediate chances to grow quickly with a company. So yes, I agree you need to be frugal and aggressive at the same time, however it’s not realistic. I know you said a lot of people would think that lol so I’m not trying to be one of those people. I’m just saying the idea is interesting but is only realistic for a few. The housing market isn’t what it used to be, the economy is in shambles, and again globalization has caused a more drawn out path for this generation. Again, cool to discuss but that’s kind of it. Of course this is only my humble option. Don’t want to sound negative or like a hater. I love your content and commend you for what you do but this one I think falls short in the likelihood your fan base will appreciate this.
I don’t even want to retire. I want to work till death.
Nate, where was that beautiful nature. Looks a little bit like where I used to go from Philadelphia to Blue Mountains and the Appalachian mountains???
I’m in Colorado at the moment
Hey Nate. Im 36. Going to be 37 next month. I was raised to believe that my family was poor. That we could never get ahead because we are just poor and thats the way it is.
Ive been working at an insurance company for 10 years.. in january i realized.. i have worked for this company 10 years and have no money saved. I had enough of being broke and being from a “poor family”. I got rid of my debt and now have money in the bank. I would like to pay my house off early and not have to work at this company the rest of my life like everyone does. 😊😊😊
If you don’t sign up for retirement you can’t have enough money though
It is crazy though how the economy and “value” of things started taking form thousands of years ago and dictating trade and trade goods which ultimately turned into a form of currency.
My plan to retire financially stable at 26 was so easy immediately I switched off real estate investment for bitcoin investment.
If everyone(brokers) here is like Mr Thpmson then there would be no problem and the world would be a better place. He has helped so many people and I’m part of those people.
Really this depends on how much you you’re risking per trade, if you risk $1000 ,then you can make an average of $20 000 per trade depends on the broker .if you risk $3000 , then you can make an average of $60,000 all in the same procedure it’s really a financial market accessible to everyone.
The real crisis is that the United States still believe that we need money, the people who print the money control us… I’ll advice everyone to switch to crypto currencies I believe that’s the future especially Bitcoin trading and investment.
Nice video dear my worst financial mistake was getting into the real estate investment. Bitcoin trading has been a true source of income for me especially during this pandemic I’m glad I made a quick switch which changed my financial status for the best.
Can’t tell if this thread is just a bunch of bots chatting at each other, or if I should really look up Mr. Thpmson’s trading services.
I’m 30. I will retire by 2025, max 2030, with 1 billion cash.
Great goal ! I’m moving forward to retire at my 30s.For Russian immigrant reaching financial freedom in Europe is a bit more tough hah:)
Nate, are you for or against IRA’s? Since you can’t access them until far later in life
I wish I had started thinking like Nate sooner but never too late! I’m 24 and I just brought a house for passive income purposes. My plan has been to grow my wealth by maintaining or decreasing my expenses as my income increases. I live in NYC but am really cautious about my spending and released a “how to save money” video a few weeks ago (inspired by Nate). Saving and investing are key! It’s all about making the right moves in order to set yourself up for freedom and financial independence. I plan to retire by 30 🙂 And I’ll have more time to spend on causes I care about instead of a job weighing me down.
i would rather be my own boss and work for life lol
I’ve made so many poor life choices- 24 year olds talking about retiring already? Talk about being switched on. Wish I was like that in my twenties. This is depressing and inspiring in equal measure. Wish I had better guidance when I was younger, but ultimately it’s my fault. I have to own my mistakes.
Great video man totally agree!. The old way of looking at the workforce is not working. I’ve found that it really does come down to personal preference, some people have no problem with working a job, others like myself realize that financial independence is more of their calling.
You’re an INTJ
I thought I was the only one
How much money is enough to ‘cruise’ ?
im a little late to the party If I know what I do now I would have done things different in my 20’s. Im already 37 but I plan on making a bunch of changes so I can retire by the time Im 50 hopefully. I already decided minimilism was the way go and now I adopted the carnivore diet for maximum health.
You would become the youngest person to retire in world history.
I recently turned 20 and now making a income of 40k and I spend 20k of that essentials. What’s do you guys think I can do to increase income or to do/start?? Any advice would be nice 🙂
If you’re making YouTube videos, you’re technically not retired
Thanks for making a 12 minute video telling us literally nothing useful. Everything you said is common sense. This was a waste of time
I think the issue is spending a little to retire early doesn’t seem fun, like you need to be frugal etc, so ppl rather spend money and retire late..I would rather make it big and retire early 😀
Had to get of 666 comments. Thanks Nate.
Patrick Mahomes can retire next year.
Congrats Buddy for your success!!!
98% of people can’t get rich in a few years to do this bruh
I tell everyone to QUIT complaining about capitalism and learn to MASTER it like Nate has done beautifully. ✅
Even without the worry of finances, I’d still volunteer somewhere (between fishing and golfing that is).
As a one on one I want to know what you did through out the years to be financially secure at 24? As a 17 year old kid i’m learning that I don’t want to work for most of my life and I guess I just need some help in understanding how to make it. Sometimes I can’t sleep at night because I can’t see my future…and I hate it. I’ve taken action and read some of the books you said to read and I’ve recently started journaling to get myself on the right path and I watch a lot of your videos as well. But still I’m lost, and soon I’ll be in collage and on my own. I’m interested in learning from you and if you wright back interested in what you have to say in response.
Thank you.
Funny how Tesla’s are the new iPhones in these analogies. “People want the latest…”
I’m more interested in your plan after your retirement.
It ain’t free market capitalist society no more, with feds buying crazy amount of bonds and not to mention all that brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I KNOW I cant be the only one who saw the dude almost fall off his bike behind Nate at 8:50 🤣
My plans at the age of 24, seeing videos of people retiring early and young.
Can I ask you a question… If you had $200,000. What would you invest it in? Be specific.
One of my best friends here and I discovered we’re both quite Mustachian and we’re both engineers. He got laid off though at the beginning of the pandemic and was out of work for a few months. As gungho as he was about FIRE before that, he quickly became ‘bored af’ and eager to work full time again, even though he did woodwork, scuba diving, camping, you name it, and is satisfied in his love life. He found a new job though and seems to think developing the frontend is quite simple and leaves something to be desired.
The point overall in the case of my friend, he seems to have learned that what he previously thought he wanted is not what he actually wants now, but would be a path to boredom. So finding something to do you like is important, that might only come from experience and not research. And that’s controversial, I think Call Newport among others says passion is overrated, and you like something by getting better at it. Maybe it’s a personality difference, I don’t think I get bored as easily.
Spilled thoughts but I’m still figuring it out. Retired at 24 and just watching TV all day would be lame AF but being say a contractor who helps 6 month out of the year could be a compromise, and that’s not exactly being retired.
did anyone noticed the biker at 8:53
Some of the points you mention very much remind me of principles from Ramit Sethi! Great video Nate. I’m 22 and don’t think I’ll be retiring at 24 😅 so props to you and wishing the journey well! It goes up from here.
Lol retiring from what? Government job? What was the point of this video man? For someone with an achievement mentality the work NEVER stops. With an achievement mentality you literally work till the last day of your life. You’re too young to be too certain about “life”, make a retirement video after 20 years when you’ve actually achieved something.
Did you take this b-roll footage? Where is it shot
Retirement isn’t just “Material things” or having “Assets” retiring is having the satisfaction in life. Retiring is having the feeling of you’ve accomplished everything you want. Retiring is having settled in life and living a simple and meaningful life.
Nate do that challenge of turning 0 dollars into 10,000 dollars online
In college economics classes they teach the labour-leisure model to show the relationship between real wage and hours of leisure. Inherent in the model is that labour and “leisure” are mutually exclusive: if you actually enjoy your labour the model doesn’t apply. Says a lot about how our society defines work as something you don’t want to do
Thanks for sharing. Good luck!
How is this not realistic? Nate this is truly achievable, I believe you could get there by 23
I hit the age of 30…and realized that everything wasn’t what I wanted it to be. It was an awakening. I’ve since tried to boost my income and will be starting to save aggressively, starting this month, to add to my 33k I already have. It’s going to take me to the age of 45 before I hit 1 million in my portfolio, based on my calcs and projections…so it’s going to take a while. I could maybe do it earlier, but it depends on how some things play out. I’m looking forward to FI, because I’m deeply unhappy at my job, but it’s stable income and I’m good at it. I just want to be able to have the CHOICE to do what I want…which is what money provides you.
Retiring early is fun and all, but as humans we need something to keep us occupied, a purpose. So after you retire, make sure youre still doing something, or else you might go insane.
I cannot thank you enough for how much you have changed a lot of my perspective in life. Your video touches everyone who sees it. I usually recommend your channel to my listeners on Friday:) it’s that day again. Thanks for the video.
Me: how do i become financial independence at 24?
Nate: how can i retire before 24?
Me:…..
i’m 18, i graduated high school, i work a regular job, and i just payed off my car 1 year early. i have no idea what to do, but i’ve always been really driven but now i’m just lost, idk what to do. i got a little scholarship to go to school for like 2 years then graduate and get a job right after. But i also want to move out so i would have to work for a while. idk what is the smart route? i want to try to do youtube or music also, especially be in the fashion industry, fashion is the only hobby i have and the only thing i’ve been good at my whole life lol. i have no idea what to do can someone please give me any tips?
The mentality “once I get to a certain wealth I can choose the jobs I like” is the same mentality as “once I get fit I can go to the beach and enjoy it.”
Just start off by doing the job that you like. End of story. No need to waste your younger years working 24/7 like an animal.
Btw, if you’re 24 and already have so many savings and investments… Honey, you were rich from the start, don’t lie.
Another excellent video 👍👍 I retired at 32..it’s been year and a half..I’m been super busy with things..I barely get 7 hours of sleep … anyways, from next year I’m planning to “return” to work..I think I’ll just do 2 days a week..freedom and flexibility are very important
In my honest oppinion, reasons why people will not retire in their early 20s or 30s,it’s because the problem with a financieel free mindset starts from the moment we go to school.
Does the school SYSTEM learn us to work for money? Or how money works?
We always learn. You work until you are 60 and than retire. It’s not something you can remove from your life overnight. So for someone who is 20+ now you have to atleast do self study on a new mindset and new strategy to apply to your life. I don’t want to write a book in the comments but i get the point but people will always make the wrong choice and later sit and regret it till the day of their death.
The 175 people who disliked are broke people who will never achieve anything and are full of envy.
Do you wear make up?
Damn get some sleep cutie
Appreciate your videos
Hey Nate, when you talk about the investments from wich you take out the 3 percent of the overall X growth, what kind of investments are you talking about ?^^
Wishing you the best in your journey ❤️❤️
Why tho, do you want to sleep through the rest of your life? Just find a job thats enjoyable or do something for free
You should share your thoughts on how you’re beating the Youtube algorithm.
0:00 – 9:30 – Total waste of time.
9:30 – 11:40 – Live frugally and increase your income.
lol nothing new here. Keep moving.
I’m 24 now. Not where near retiring but I would like to be financially free and have the choice to work or not by 35.
I got your point, but still missing something in the national park example. Look if national park salary wouldn’t be satisfying for you, then you would look for ways of improvement of the park services and have a better salary as a result. I wonder if going as a park employee with money you would be as much pushed to do good things as when you were in need of money?
