A leak at a wastewater pond is causing concern that a “wall of water” could overwhelm hundreds of homes in the US state of Florida. Officials in Manatee County declared a state of emergency on Sunday and ordered that the area around the Piney Point reservoir site be evacuated. The large pond contains phosphorus and nitrogen from an old phosphate plant and the leak in the dam was discovered about a week ago. Twenty-two members of India’s elite security forces have been killed during a raid on a Maoist rebel hideout in eastern Chhattisgarh state. It is the deadliest battle between the two sides since 2017. Royal ancient mummies have been transported through Egypt’s capital of Cairo to their new home, in the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The former crown prince of Jordan says he is under house arrest in Amman. The military has denied detaining Prince Hamzah bin Hussein, but says a former minister, a member of the royal family and others have been detained as part of a continuing investigation. At least five more people have been killed in Myanmar in the latest crackdown on anti-coup protesters.
