The former crown prince of Jordan says he is under house arrest in Amman.
The military has denied detaining Prince Hamzah bin Hussein, but says a former minister, a member of the royal family and others have been detained as part of a continuing investigation.
In a video, Prince Hamzah accused Jordan’s leaders of corruption, incompetence and harassment.
Lebanon, Egypt and Gulf countries have all expressed solidarity with Jordan’s King Abdullah.

Britain, France and the US have done a great number on the Middle East or the former provinces of the Ottoman empire. All of these kingdoms are colonial era regimes. Britain carved up the region into smaller kingdoms and pitted one against the other in order to break up the Ottoman empire. The Middle East hardly had any such conflicts on such large scale during the Ottoman rule. People were not divided into different territorial identities (like Europe) into Syrians, Iraqis, Jordanians, Lebanese, Palestinians etc. There was no nationalism or patriotism back then as all belonged to the same empire traveling and moving without any border issues the kind of what we see in the United States of America or the European Union. And then Britain threw Israel into the mix creating perpetual hostilities in the region.

Tourism was a big source of their income but because of the pandemic, I imagine it’s been hard on Jordan and it’s people. Plus, it was their fathers dying wish that Hamzan would become a king after Abdulah and he agreed to it publically, announced that he will become king after his death as was their fathers will, but then his own son became teen he suddenly changed his mind. Alexis I agree with you, change is needed but I think change should come from within the country. Change induced by foreign interests only caused damage, that’s why he referenced Iraq and Libya. These countries have the capability to change for the better but times where outside influence is involved it always ends bad. Especially in the case of the Middle East.
