Chongar bridge has been called ‘the gate to Crimea’ – which is the territory annexed by Russia in 2014. Crimea’s governor says no casualties have been reported, and he says the attack was carried out by a Storm Shadow missile. Russia’s defence minister Sergei Shoigu says Ukraine plans to strike Crimea, with long-range HIMARS artillery and Storm Shadow missiles, according to a report from Russia’s TASS news agency. “The use of HIMARS and Storm Shadow missiles outside the special operation zone will mean the full involvement of the United States and Great Britain in the conflict,” Shoigu said, adding that Russia will retaliate. Russia says its troops on Saturday captured several Ukrainian armoured vehicles and tanks while repelling a counter-offensive in Zaporizhzhia.
