An investigation is under way in Argentina, where at least 24 people have died after ingesting cocaine that was mixed with an unknown toxic substance – more than 80 people are in hospital. From a country that suffered one of the worst famine in history, Ukraine has become one of the major grain exporters in the world. Last year, it produced about 100 million tonnes of grain, and exported 75 percent of it. With tensions between Ukraine and Russia, there are fears that the cost of these exports may rise, or that they may not make it out of Ukraine at all. Rescue teams in Morocco say they are getting closer to reaching a young boy who fell down a 32-metre (105 feet) well. He has been trapped since Tuesday. Crews say that they are less than 2 metres away from him now. A team is digging out part of a hillside in a delicate and dangerous operation to reach the five-year-old. The United States is sending 2,000 additional soldiers to Europe and repositioning another 1,000 from Germany to Romania to ensure the “robust defence” of European NATO members, the Pentagon has said, amid the ongoing impasse between Russia and Ukraine.
