From a country that suffered one of the worst famine in history, Ukraine has become one of the major grain exporters in the world.
Last year, it produced about 100 million tonnes of grain, and exported 75 percent of it.
With tensions between Ukraine and Russia, there are fears that the cost of these exports may rise, or that they may not make it out of Ukraine at all.
Any disruption would have a major impact on the global distribution and supply, already battered by the COVID pandemic.

Absolute media beat up. Trying to play Ukraine up as an important global grains exporter, when in reality they aren’t even in the top 25 exporting countries for wheat or barley, the two grains discussed in the video.
Get real.
@TJ Marx In 2020, ukraine exported 3.6 billion dollars in wheat. Ukraine has exported 16 million tonns of wheat while the US has exported 22.5 million tonns of wheat. The biggest exporter of wheat currently is Russia with 43 million tonns. I dont even know where you get these imaginary numbers from. No country exports 100 million tonns of wheat. That would be like filling the landmass of belarus, ukraine, poland and germany together to get that much amount of wheat. Ukraine was the fifth largest exporter of wheat by Volume, like it or not. This data can variate. Some wensites show it on 5th place and some on 6th, 7th or 8th, but saying that ukraine isnt even in the top 25 is some of the biggest bull*hit i have heard. Ukraine is a large agricultural country. It was the breadbasket of the soviet union and remains one.
@FleekRush YT How much money they made is a red herring. You numbers are false. The biggest immediate giveaway to even the uninformed person that your numbers are false is your claim on Yankvilles export, which was 122M T of wheat.
Try finding actually credible sources for information, like the WTO, and cross checking their numbers against national export numbers from trade departments and the world bank.
Ironically it’s Russia who are the fifth biggest exporter of wheat.
Ukrainian wheat is of no global importance.
@TJ Marx Can you link me the source of the world trade organization? I can’t find their review for 2020.
@FleekRush YT External links are not allowed in YouTube comments. There are annual reports, if you can’t find them it only goes to my point about actually understanding what research means and the skills involved.
Have a lovely day mate I’ve got work to do
@TJ Marx Something tells me that TJ Marx is a Russian schill. Name matches. Go back & drink your cheap Russian vodka.

The Holodomor (Ukrainian: Голодомо́р, romanized: Holodomor, IPA: [ɦolodoˈmɔr]; derived from морити голодом, moryty holodom, ‘to kill by starvation’), also known as the Terror-Famine or the Great Famine, was a famine in Stalinist Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians. This famine was engineered by Stalin. It was a large part of the wider Soviet famine of 1932–1933. Stalin appropriated virtually the entire Ukrainian grain crop to feed USSR populations located further to the east.
ctrl+p
you poorly studied this issue in the 30s of the last century, grain from the southern lands of Russia went to the port of Odessa, and from there to European countries and America. Why? Because the Western countries ONLY for grain or gold agreed to try the USSR with extremely necessary machine tools and equipment. And the USSR badly needed the industrialization of the country. Perhaps indirectly, but the Western countries are responsible for the famine in the USSR in those years.

If the world were to invest 10% of the amount now spent
on military conquest and the equipment to kill humans,
we could feed all the people.
The fact that Qatar
seems to want to sell LNG to the EU,
could have some influence on the reporting we see….
So how can they cause foos supply crises are these imaginary news
Or I will correct myself fake news
God save Ukraine
until you struggle, Russia is making deals with China to sell food from Russian farmers to China….just saying… but of course i can understand some people prefer to eat bullets….
It’s clear that the US is inflaming the situation by moving troops to the region. What could have been settled with a diplomatic agreement is now being forced into an actual conflict. I really don’t want to see American boys sent over to a foreign country to die for some rich guy’s interest. We tried to stop this in November of 2020 but the power hungry oligarchs rigged things so they could regain that power. God help us all.
Also, why is youtube putting up a banner reminding me that Al Jazeera is funded in part by the Qatari government? NPR is fully funded by the US government but I bet I won’t see a banner about that.
This reporter is assuming this land will not be farmed again after Russia takes over.
@CF Win • The question is how quickly Russia could take over & resume farming. It is likely that at least one growing season would be missed. As the maps showed, loss of 100 million tons of Ukrainian grains could have a major impact on countries that are already food insecure.
Some of the world best rocket scientists come from Ukraine.
Even James bond knows this.
Fasisti nemaji co do huby, nemaji cim topit, svitit, dluzi kam se podivaji, Zelenskyj zebra po svete jak houmlesak ale valcit, to ano!!! Somalsko Evropy!!
Watch out , a lot of Ukrainian grains are radioactive because of Chernobyl ….other grains exporters are the US Australia Brazil Argentina Russia France etc….and of course Ukraine too is a major exporter
Lol what. Nothing is grown and harvested in that Chornobyl area.
😂😂😂😂😂
Well done.
Planning , if, might , Friday the 13th, yesterday, any second, tommorow, in 2030 will attack. BS is all about China and Russia now nothing else 100%.
Another excellent reporting from Al Jazeera👍 Never seen this side of the Ukraine story in other major networks. That’s food supply for some major Arab countries. Any major disruption would lead to possible shortages, price increases, and, who knows, demonstrations ala Arab Spring.
Kazakhstan may be ruled by China within a decade. Looks like the Putin is going to put Belarus in the line of fire and let them be destroyed as a buffer. The troops are from central Asia so they won’t have issues with killing their “Slavic brothers”. Maybe Putin should consider joining NATO to help defend eastern Russia from China. Something to consider with the current Ukraine situation is that Putin can’t fight a war on two fronts and survive. Putin and China’s Xi put up a public front that they have some type of “mutual” military defense “pact” against “the west”, but that may not really exist. Putin’s China “tell” was the Russian Vostok-2018 military exercises with 330,000 Russian troops on the Chinese border and only 3,300 Chinese troops inside China (never closer than 150km). Putin’s not so covert saber rattling at the Chinese. Putin knows China wants all the giant “free store” natural resources of Siberia and Central Asia along its border (including Kazakhstan). If Ukraine is invaded by Russia, Putin is leaving “eastern” Russia totally defenseless against the ramping up of the Chinese military. China is going to eventually “recover/reclaim” central Asia and Siberia north of Mongolia and east of the Ob/Irtysh and Yenisei Rivers. When Putin starts something with the west and is weak, China will invade and “protect” Eastern Russia, aka, take the land westward all the way to “Slavic” Russia, without a single shot from Russia. AKA, China is going to gnaw off Russia’s hind legs and Russia will be helpless to stop it. Note how the smiling Chinese cat is eyeballing the tasty fluttering Russian canary. Just saying…
“They got money for war but can’t feed the poor.” – 2pac
Global food shortage? Don’t make me laugh 🤣🤣🤣🤣
it can still produce under russia …..
It will not produce anything if there is a war. Would you go out and plant seeds if someone shoots at you or would you go into a mine field
in the 30s of the last century, grain from the southern lands of Russia went to the port of Odessa, and from there to European countries and America. Why?
Because the Western countries ONLY for grain or gold agreed to supply the USSR with extremely necessary machine tools and equipment. (USSR needed the industrialization of the country.) Indirectly, but…. the Western countries are responsible for the famine in the USSR in those years.
if there is a war in Ukraine and an economic crisis in the world … everything will repeat itself … and there will be famine again in Ukraine
@kalinka Not this time. Just like Africa got the least amount of vaccine. We can just reroute our grain to our Ukrainian VOLK. Worst case scenario we Europeans can throw out the illegal aliens and replace them with fertile Ukrainian women and children from the old CIS countries. They are a highly intelligent and educated group that will fix right in.

What is with food banks everywhere, homeless, people can’t afford to pay all bills ,,(Europe,US, UK) skyrocket energy prices
It’s the Globalist Great Reset…. Which basically means penury, mass starvation/famine, Global chemical/biological/nuclear warfare, and death… I hope people are finally starting to wake up, to what’s really going on…
disaster war europe
World fertilizer prices are experiencing hyperinflation. Crops that require large amounts of fertilizer will be impacted. Buy corn now while it’s cheap.
When you report something like that, you should say what percent of the world’s total supply comes from Ukraine. Otherwise, it is a total waste of time.
Wheat: 8%, but in many other areas, it can variate between 5 – 20%
Exactly they hold the 6th export spot, exporting about 7% of the worlds total wheat grain.
the only talk of war is from Ukrainian masters the US n the UK. Maybe they should tell them to stop baeting up the war-drums n everything will be back to normal
Lies, deceptions and propaganda, this is the West’s last stand in its war against truth and reality. As before, these wardogs pick upon the weak and vulnerable, this time using the confused Ukrainians for launching their next war after their Afghan debacle. Saif al-Islam Gaddafi spoke out logically and sanely against the misinformation speakheaded by aggressive NATO propaganda prior to NATO’s highly illegal carpet bombing of Libya. Now we are witnessing Maria Zakharova, Lavrov and others speaking out logically and sanely against NATO’s misinformation and highly inflammatory propaganda against Russia. Why doesn’t the sane world collectively see the greatest threat to humanity is NATO, this war-driven nuclear-armed mad-dog régime pushing western hegemony where it’s neither wanted nor accepted through weakness?
Both Russia and China have developed a complete indifference towards whatever the West/USA/NATO are barking at or about….
And indifference is always the last stage of an existing or an ex-relationship. The stage in which you can no longer be hurt in any way by the opposing side.
along with the missiles and weapons bring food….
What exactly do you mean by “leading exporter” it’s in the 6th spot. Which is about 1/3rd of what Russias wheat exports are… it’s a player but not as consequential as you think.
it wont affect the governments just the people
We wouldnt be affected coz we eat rice
Ukrainians should stay away from the USA and EU. they don’t really care about them. All they care is war with Russia
