‘Up to 90 percent’ of UK petrol pumps dry amid panic buying

The UK government says it’s working to ensure fuel supply issues are resolved, following days of long queues at petrol stations, with many forced to close. Damage grows as Canary Island lava flows, firefighters retreat

The flow of lava from a volcano on the Canary Islands has slowed but there is fear it could still cause more damage, prompting further evacuation orders for another three towns. Even firefighters are now being told to retreat from certain areas due to worsening conditions. The volcano on La Palma island erupted six days ago. Hundreds of homes have since been destroyed. In blow to Apple, EU may require USB-C chargers for all smartphones

The European Commission is considering a plan to impose a universal charger for all brands of mobile phones, tablets and headphones. A legislative proposal presented on Thursday details why there should be a common charging port for mobile phones, tablets and headphones. The move would likely affect iPhone-maker Apple the most. Its chargers are used exclusively for Apple products. Supporters say the move would create a more convenient market for consumers.
