Huge rallies in Myanmar for ninth day as army steps up arrests

0 Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets in Myanmar’s big cities for a ninth day of anti-coup demonstrations, as the country’s new military rulers rolled back laws protecting freedom and stepped up the arrests of politicians and activists. The military is also bringing back repressive laws used by the previous military government – including a requirement for people to report overnight guests in their homes to authorities. More than 380 people have been arrested since the military seized power in a coup on February 1.
