St Petersburg explosion: Russian military blogger killed

A leading Russian military blogger who supported the invasion of Ukraine has been killed in a bomb attack on a cafe in central St Petersburg. Vladlen Tatarsky – whose real name was Maxim Fomin – was a member of a blogging group known as Cyber Front Z, which had hired out the cafe for an event. Witnesses say the bomb was hidden in a statuette he was presented with. 25 people were injured. Uganda’s capital Kampala hit by twin suicide bombings: Police

At least three civilians have been killed in a double suicide bombing in the Ugandan capital Kampala. One explosion happened near a checkpoint at the central police station and the second near the Parliament building. Three attackers also died in the blast and Ugandan police said a fourth was arrested and a suicide vest found at his home. Beirut blast pushes economy to edge as many remain missing

A government-led investigation is under way in Lebanon to probe the cause of the massive explosion that ripped through the capital, Beirut. The government announced on Wednesday that those responsible for guarding and storage at Beirut’s port – the epicentre of the blast – would be placed under house arrest “as soon as possible,” after the disaster left at least 137 dead and 5,000 wounded. Hundreds of thousands left homeless by Beirut explosion

Lebanese President Michel Aoun called for an emergency cabinet meeting on Wednesday and said a two-week state of emergency should be declared following a massive explosion in Beirut that killed at least 100 people and injured 4,000 others. The explosion on Tuesday sent shockwaves across the city, causing widespread damage as far as the outskirts of the capital. Officials said they expect the death toll to rise further as emergency workers dig through the rubble to search for survivors.
