Last French soldiers leave Niger: All French military hardware removed from country

The last French soldiers have left Niger after the country’s new rulers cancelled defence agreements and ordered the French ambassador to leave. On Thursday, France announced it was closing its embassy in the capital. Relations between the two countries broke down following a military coup on July 26. Niger sanctions trigger shortages: Niamey faces basic provision scarcity
