A far-right mass murderer in Norway is asking the court to be released on parole. Anders Breivik has served the minimum 10 years of his sentence for killing 77 people in a car bomb and gun attack in 2011. Although he says that he has renounced violence, psychiatrists say he is showing no remorse for his crimes and Breivik has demonstrated a continued belief in the far-right ideologies that motivated his attack. A blaze on the island of Evia is one of more than 100 burning across Greece. A wildfire that tore through a forest on the outskirts of the capital, Athens, has now receded – but has destroyed homes and businesses. The capital is now blanketed in a thick layer of smoke, and residents have been told to stay inside to protect themselves from pollution.
