Thai police fire water cannon at Bangkok protesters

Thai police and anti-government protesters have clashed in the centre of the capital. Water cannon were used to break through a barricade set up by demonstrators in Bangkok. For a third day in a row, thousands of people defied a government ban on gatherings. They are calling for the prime minister’s resignation and reforms to the monarchy. Thai protesters rally in Bangkok defying state of emergency

Hundreds of protesters gathered on Thursday in the Thai capital, Bangkok, calling for police to free arrested activists, defying emergency measures imposed earlier to quell a pro-democracy movement. Thailand imposed “serious” emergency measures banning gatherings of more than five people in a bid to stop youth-led demonstrations that have been rocking the country since mid-July. Thai student protests: Boycotts force businesses to pick sides
