Hundreds of protesters gathered on Thursday in the Thai capital, Bangkok, calling for police to free arrested activists, defying emergency measures imposed earlier to quell a pro-democracy movement.
Thailand imposed “serious” emergency measures banning gatherings of more than five people in a bid to stop youth-led demonstrations that have been rocking the country since mid-July.

they can opt for a constitutional monarchy like in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, or Sweden, what that means is that the head of the monarchy (the Thai king in this case) is effectively removed from any and all political powers that he or she welds rule applies for their families as well but can hold onto government sanction ceremonies and still live a life of luxury financed and paid for curtesy of Thailand tax payers the monarch family would be a figure head for tourist traps and celebrations nothing less and nothing more I am not to sure if that would be popular considering Thailand’s history of coup d’etats but this would probably be the easiest way to reform and transition into there new type of government.
okay this one would be more harder and challenging, Thailand can go for a full fledged republic this would completely eliminate the monarchy completely which means that the new republic would dissolve the royal family and would set up political power structures completely foreign to Thailand countries that use these types of governments would be like the Untied States Of America, republic of France, or the German republic are good examples, Thailand as a country it would be possible but would require some proper planning and time to establish and develop proper democratic institutions to processing reforms for checks and balances again this is harder and would be critical to building the foundations of a republic that would actually be democratic, I cannot stress enough about including social democratic component that functions within a republic as a political baseline because I assume people of Thailand do not want any type of authoritarianism by this point, also a constitutionally limited republic is your best bet here it as a constitution will enshrine basic rules and laws that cant be violated whatsoever no matter where who you are, or where you are in Thailand.
this one is extreme even for me and I am a pretty progressive type of dude, this type of government is referred to as direct democracy, basically a direct democracy eliminates any type of parliamentary , constituent assembly, congresses or state representatives in favor for more streamlined and direct political participation this type of political power structures assumes everybody in Thailand has proficient political literacy and and responsibly decide on every and all political proposal ballot initiatives and formulation of legislation, I don’t recommend this because it simply wouldn’t work for many reasons if you thought representative democracies where inefficient well a direct democracy would politically grind the country to a halt as everyone would be to busy trying to vote for every and all pieces of legislation, and I do mean EVERY peace of legislation lol there seems to be only one country that comes to mind which actually participates in this type of government and that would be Switzerland, and that’s it a small country of 8 million people vs a country like Thailand which has 69 million people lol…. still though maybe some day when more advances in telecommunications technology and developments may make direct democracy might be possible but this is far into the future…

@Wild Daisies I don’t think lese majeste laws are a good idea but Thailand is a country where past kings are semi-worshipped (particularly Rama V). It’s a cultural thing, not a good one but understandable.
The other issue of the king recognising the coup. I’m not sure what he could have done about it. He could have refused to co-operate but he couldn’t exactly dismiss the coup. He died a couple of years after the coup which I think puts it into context.
