Rohingya refugees tell stories of harrowing sea crossings

Rohingya Muslims who have arrived in northern Indonesia are telling stories of their harrowing sea crossings. At least 185 people are receiving medical care, after arriving in Aceh on Monday. They were onboard one of four boats that left Bangladesh in November. More than a million Rohingya are in overcrowded camps in Bangladesh, after fleeing persecution in Myanmar. More than two months since chaotic evacuations from Kabul’s international airport after the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, things are slowly returning to something closer to normal. The airport is open to aid deliveries, as well as a few charter planes and evacuation flights. An elite unit of the Taliban is now in charge of securing the airport.
