Coffee farms across Colombia are suffering the worst shortage of workers in years.
The fear of COVID-19 and low prices for coffee beans have made hiring pickers more difficult and offering higher wages impossible.
Farms are missing up to half the temporary workers they regularly hire to harvest the crop.

Old school methods can fix this problem. Say 18 century laborers. They don’t want to be a buck!
In the XXI century this work should be done by machines rather than by underpaid migrants.

I think picking coffee job is ok and fun since it is just seasonal, the business industry are just trying to automize the manual picking and its just crazy and as for people it is a great and noble job to do than making tiktok videos and selfies
Why not import migrants or take a loan and machanise the picking process
They could try paying their workers more then $30 a day. That might help retain a few
Minimum wage in Colombia is like $250 a month for 45-50 hours a day. You don’t know much because $30 a day is more than some people with degrees make in Colombia.
When will the world realize our world is not infinite, but finite and has a limit to it’s resources.
Colombian coffee is so smooth and full bodied this is a real shame.

That’s what the farm owners get for not investing in automation and mechanization, and relying on manual labor. Either get with the times or get left behind.
