Ukraine is shoring up its defences and calling up civilians to join the military reserves in preparation for a possible Russian invasion.
A third of Ukrainians say they are ready to volunteer to help the government form up to 25 brigades set to be deployed in cities across the country.
They are part of the strategic defence plan – providing popular resistance in case the Ukrainian army is overwhelmed.

I am an American combat veteran. I have served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I’m no longer “fit for military service” but I wouldn’t hesitate to help the Ukrainians protect their sovereignty if given the chance. Ukraine has are real democracy where peaceful transfer of power is regular in FAIR elections. Putin has been in power since 1999. That alone should tell you something. Democracy now! Transfer of power!!! No one will take Russian intentions seriously until their dictator is gone.
