A record number of people are making the dangerous journey by boat from Tunisia across the Mediterranean to Europe.
Many of them are from poor and conflict-hit countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
But an increasing number of Tunisians, trying to escape hunger and unemployment, are joining them
Countries in Europe are alarmed.
As part of efforts to stem the flow, they are offering an aid package of more than $1bn to help stabilise Tunisia’s economy.
Rights groups are criticising the proposal, saying it compromises the rights of refugees and asylum seekers.

Tunisia needs money, and the EU is burning through billions, keeping unskilled, uneducated, desperate people in accommodation that’s unsuitable for long-term habitation, making commercial property owners wealthy.
The EU should be pledging a lot more than a billion though. Use the foreign AID money they won’t be spending on food this year thanks to Russia to ignite the Tunisian economy. Train and educate. Improve everyone’s lives. Then those who are capable of earning a living wage without dependency on welfare can transition legally and be directed towards a country in need of labour.

If EU really wants to help Tunisia, they should fund european schools and universities in Tunisia to educate and train Tunisians to contribute to the development of their economy and maybe even provide a skilled workforce for the EU. This would be a better way to use aid money than just sending food.
Why is it always someone else’s job to provide schools and investments for others. Can’t Tunisian’s do it themselves?

Why always Europe?
It is because Europe is not independent but an US maid. Europe doesn’t have her own interests and policy. EU had no problem to accept the refugee when US invaded Syria to push the Refugee to Europe. The result is Brexit which has been badly destroyed EU and British.
So EU wants Tunisia to stop refugees coming to Europe via Tunisia, but they criticize Tunisia to dealing with African migrants
