UN expresses ‘horror’ at reported mass graves in Libya

The UN says it is horrified by the discovery of mass graves in the Libyan city of Tarhuna and other areas recently retaken from forces loyal to renegade military commander Khalifa Haftar. UN’s outgoing human rights envoy to Myanmar slams Suu Kyi

The UN’s outgoing human rights envoy for Myanmar says the country’s leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, has failed to live up to her reputation as a humanitarian. Her time in the role has been especially dominated by Myanmar’s crackdown in Rakhine State in 2017. About 750,000 people, mostly Rohingya Muslims, fled across the border to Bangladesh. Now Yanghee Lee has told Al Jazeera that she believes Myanmar’s army conducted ethnic cleansing and that Suu Kyi’s inaction was “utterly disappointing”. The US vetoed a Kuwait-backed resolution calling for the protection of Palestinians. The US then failed to muster a single vote of support for its resolution condemning Hamas. Israeli settlers seize Palestinian family homes in Hebron The flashpoint city of Hebron in the occupied West Bank has seen a rise in tensions after Israeli settlers moved into three Palestinian apartments by force just over a week ago. Within hours the army turned the site into a closed military zone, in effect providing protection to the settlers, and restricting the Abu Rajab family access to their own home. The Abu Rajabs are slowly being forced from a cluster of apartment building, in which they have lived for decades.
