Pakistanis suffer as inflation rises, economy worsens

The International Monetary Fund earlier this week said it had agreed with Islamabad on measures needed to reive a stalled $6bn funding programme for Pakistan where inflation reached more than 9 percent in October. Pakistanis are struggling to make ends meet as the economy takes a dive. The price of goods has hit a 70-year high and the local currency has weakened against the US dollar. India building its longest-ever vehicle pass in Kashmir

The Indian government is building the last of four major tunnels in Indian-administered Kashmir. Officials say this, one of Asia’s longest tunnels, will be the country’s longest. The tunnels are intended to connect areas that are usually cut off during the winter snows and come as part of India’s effort to beef up development near its border with China. Uganda’s capital Kampala hit by twin suicide bombings: Police

At least three civilians have been killed in a double suicide bombing in the Ugandan capital Kampala. One explosion happened near a checkpoint at the central police station and the second near the Parliament building. Three attackers also died in the blast and Ugandan police said a fourth was arrested and a suicide vest found at his home. Latin Grammy-winning singer Marilia Mendonca dies in Brazil crash

One of Brazil’s most popular singers has been killed in a plane crash. Marilia Mendonca, who was 26 years old, died alongside her manager and an aide. Haiti unrest: Gang boss calls on the US to help overthrow gov’t

The leader of a coalition of Haitian gangs is asking the US to help him overthrow the government of Prime Minister Ariel Henry. The head of the G9 gang Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier said he wanted Haiti’s elite gone. He had previously said he would ensure the safe passage of fuel trucks gangs had blocked if Henry was removed. Gangs in Haiti have become more politically assertive since the assassination of President Jovenel Moise in July which has plunged the country into further lawlessness. Dozens reportedly trapped after 21-storey building collapses in Nigeria’s Lagos

A 21-storey building has collapsed in the Nigerian city of Lagos. It is believed 50 people are trapped in the building that is reported to have been under construction.
