The Pakistani government has congratulated Bangladesh on the nation’s golden jubilee and invited the prime minister to visit Islamabad. As Bangladesh celebrates 50 years of independence from being East Pakistan, there have been mixed reactions among displaced Bangladeshis in Pakistan.
Thousands have remained stateless despite bilateral ties between the two countries.
And the war of independence remains a painful subject.

I am a Bangladesi, I didn’t see the Pakistan vs Bangladesh war at 1971, but my grandpa and dad were freedom fighters. According to them, even Bangladesi people were not sure about seperating from Pakistan!!! West Pakistan treated us like slaves, lots of disparity existed between East Pakistan and west Pakistan, people got angry and the seperation was inevitable!!! But, India got the cherry or ice on the cake by seperating east and west Pakistan!!! India purposefully and deliberately seperated east and west Pakistan so that they can dominate Bangladesh and Pakistan, their major enemy will be weakened by loosing it’s parts!!!!!!
As a Bangladeshi, I honestly believe, separating was the best decision. What India got or not doesn’t matter, what matters is, today Bangladesh is a nation with its own identity and you are a free man. Thanks to all of the freedom fighters including your family members.
