Archaeologists in Egypt have unveiled another massive haul of priceless artefacts.
They were found in the Saqqara Necropolis – a site near Cairo, where many ancient treasures have been discovered.
The artifacts include statues of the gods Anubis, Amun, Min, Osiris, Isis, Nefertum, Bastet, and Hathor along with a headless statue of the architect Imhotep, who built the Saqqara pyramid. Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said that the 250 coffins, 150 bronze statues, and other objects dated to the Late Period, about 500 BC.

You can look at the pictoral insides various tombs and on other art. Many shades of skin color are represented from lightest tan to darkest black, much like today. While Queen Nefertari was definitely black as we would see it today with her skin being worshipped because it was the color of fertile soil, many many life like Egyptian death portraits show light brown skinned people with dark course curly hair. Many DNA studies from some of the mummies are showing heavy Mediterranean mixtures. The Egyptians are and have been for many thousands of years a heavy mix of all of the people around them.

@Noka Ancient Egypt was diverse. They show is this in their drawings and paintings. Whites(Berbers), browns(Cushites) and blacks(Nilotes) were the main occupants of Egypt. You’d obviously find lighter or darker shades amongst each other’s groups due to mixing among other reasons but majority were of the distinctive shades belonged to those groups. The ruling class however, was primarily brown and black. The origins of the ruling class was from Eastern Africa and they migrated up north along the river Nile. It is important to mention that because throughout history biased and prejudiced European historians have tried their best to remove Egypt from Africa.

They are probably stored away somewhere, now, and being analyzed. The bodies themselves and any text or hieroglyphs are what most archaeologists focus on because it tells us about the culture. The jewelry would be very interesting to see, but I anticipate it being moved away before any ne’er-do-wells come around and try to get ahold of it.

Actually cemeteries are regularly dug up to make room for new dead. They pile up the bones in underground chambers. After a couple of centuries all your relatives are gone so no one cares. Pretty sickening if you ask me.
