The first US-made M1 Abrams tanks have arrived in Ukraine.
Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said they would reinforce Kyiv’s armored brigades.
He did not specify how many tanks had arrived.
Last week US President Joe Biden promised to supply Kyiv with more state-of -the-art weapons.
As well as $113bn in security and humanitarian aid.
The long-awaited tank delivery comes at a critical point in Kyiv’s counteroffensive.

There are other means to fight in a battle. War tactics have changed. Those Abrams and leopard tanks are rendered useless in an open battlefield.
Open battlefields, especially ones full of trenches are one of the few places where tanks excel, and what they were invented in the first place. Irrespective of the old argument about whether or not tanks are obsolete today, having the option to bring to bear a big armoured gun that can traverse rough ground quickly is better than not having that option.

I don’t like it. I don’t support the Russians and I don’t want to see Russia win, But I don’t think it’s a good idea to give the Russians a direct crack at fighting M-1s. It’s something they’ve never done directly. Predicting the performance of Russian-crewed tanks and Russian anti-armor assets against M-1s has always been a big question mark for the Russians that they’ve not been able to answer. But the US _has_ tested American-crewed tanks and anti-armor against Russian-made tanks many times and come out with a pretty good record and renewed confidence in US equiment.
But no longer I guess. Our current administration has decided it’s time to give up that advantage.

Tanks are old now. So vulnerable and only of any use when hull down as mobile artillery.
People have to understand that the abrams is more of a symbol showing American support. 30 tanks is practically nothing. this action allowed other nato allies to also contribute such support as leopard 2.
