Blinken is far from ignorant – he is going along with the current administration’s policies, just like most of the other Democrats who hold senior government positions.
This is their M.O. The exact same thing happened when Yasser Arafat was leading the peace efforts on the Palestinian side. Israel kept making it harder and harder for Palestinians to accept it. If it looked like Palestinians would be okay with a deal, they made it harder until the Palestinians won’t accept it and the Zionists would walk away saying “It was them who didn’t accept the deal.”

The occupied, meanwhile, have every right to resist occupation, and are encouraged by international law to do so. And this whole ‘winner takes the spoils’ thing is also illegal under international law. You cannot take land through ‘winning’.

Palestinians are allowed to resist occupation (albeit they should not have committed crimes against civilians). It has already been decided by the highest international court that Israel is illegally occupying Palestinian land – it is they who must immediately withdraw. Israel has no right to dictate ceasefire terms and the USA should offer assistance in negotiations only when asked by both sides.
Under international law, if occupation looks like it may become permanent (as occupation is supposed to be temporary) the occupied have an obligation to fight back, while the occupier loses their right to ‘self-defense’. And Israel has been doing this long before Hamas existed.
