UN: Latin America, Caribbean face worst-ever recession

A regional United Nations body is forecasting the worst-ever economic contraction for Latin America and the Caribbean, following oil prices moving into negative territory as demand drops due to global coronavirus restrictions. Many Latin American countries which produce oil will be hit badly and the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean predicts a 5.3 percent drop in economic activity. Cuban doctors head to Italy to fight coronavirus

Cuba is sending its medics to Lombardy to help Italian doctors fight the coronavirus outbreak. Boeing crisis: CEO fired in bid to restore confidence in brand

CEO Dennis Muilenburg has been sacked because a change of leadership was necessary to restore public confidence, says Boeing. The company suspended production of the 737 Max aeroplane less than a week ago and has lost more than $8bn after the fatal crashes of Ethiopian Airlines and Lion Air. Boeing is facing lawsuits over the accidents and European regulators have refused to give the green light to the jet so it can fly. As water sources are drying up throughout different areas, a team has come together to set up tanks and a new system to help get closer to solving the problems with water and irrigation. Vigilante groups take on Mexico cartels

Criminal gangs in Mexico are still carrying out mass kidnappings despite a promise by President Enrique Peña Nieto to protect the people. In the Western state of Michoacan, towns continue to join popular vigilante groups to defend themselves from the brutal Knights Templar cartel. More than 60 bodies have been recovered from clandestine graves in the area. Authorities have said they will not allow people to take justice into their own hands, but as Al Jazeera’s Rachel Levin reports from Michoacan, the self-defence groups will not give up.
