Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is wrapping up a visit to Nicaragua, where he has met President Daniel Ortega in Managua.
The visit is part of a three South American countries of Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba and the tour is expected to include political and economic deals.
Prior to his departure, the president had described Iran’s relations with the South American countries as “strategic.”

So basically nations who have authoritarian leaders and govern their nations with oppression and crack down against democratic institutions are saying they are better than the US cause why exactly? They are no where better than the US, they are much worse than the US.
Also these leaders are totally against democracy or even human rights. I am not denying that the US is equal in those violations as well but oh gosh man, it is as if respecting your own national constitution and ensuring the rights of your people is such a hard thing to do. The easy scapegoat they use as well is that anyone who advocated freedom or liberty is somehow an American agent/spy which is totally stupidity and ignorance. So speaking out against oppression is somehow an “American” act but taking oppression and in cases like Iran the beating and rapes of women somehow has to be accepted because it is “our culture”. A culture that celebrated the oppression and violence against their own people is not a culture, it is a twisted and sick mentality of leaders wanting to maintain power by any means. Look at all these nations and who their allies are: Venezuela, Russia, Belarus, Iran, Nicaragua, Cuba….all where political rights and freedom of speech and press are completely non-existent. Look at Ortega the hypocrite talking about US as if he himself is not doing worse and violating democratic institutions of his own nation. He is unpopular in his country and people want him out but he had any opposition candidate who would of beat him, locked up and many have fled. Same with Iran and Venezuela….total hypocrites. If you cannot see or understand that they you are just blind or ignorant but because you do not like America. I value my fundamental freedoms and would fight for them because they are my constitutional rights. While the western world is busy virtue signaling, lecturing and playing cancel culture, the rest if the world is quickly moving towards a unipolar world and making partnerships that serve their individual country interests.
I really don’t understand this growing idea amongst countries in the developing world that The West has somehow robbed them of their prestige.
Has The West exploited the natural resources of countries in Asia, South America, Africa, etc in the past? Of course they have. Are they still doing it today? Considering all of the Western owned mining companies and alike that still dominate the precious metal industries in Africa, as well as the Western led Bretton Woods institutions denying these states the ability to go protectionist to nurture their infant markets, you could also argue yes.
What makes no sense is the idea that the reason many of these nations are weak is entirely because of The West and it “stealing” their rightful position on the world stage, which is 100% just nationalist cope. Countries existing on the fringe like Nicaragua were never at any point in history, nor ever will be, powers capable of projecting influence to other countries. The West didn’t “rob” them of anything in this regard, some states are predestined to be powerful and others are not, simple as that.
