Qatar says talks to end GCC crisis were suspended in January

Qatar’s foreign minister said recent efforts to end the blockade against the country have not suceeded. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt cut all political, trade and transport ties with Qatar in 2017. The foreign minster said that talks to ease tensions ended last month. Coronavirus: Cruise ship passengers disembark in Cambodia

Passengers from a cruise ship turned away by four countries because of coronavirus fears have finally been allowed off in Cambodia. The ship had been at sea for two weeks, and the 2,000 passengers and crew had been tested to see if they were carrying the virus when it arrived on Wednesday. Coronavirus: UK declares ‘serious and imminent threat’

The UK has now declared the coronavirus a “serious and imminent threat to public health”. A medical centre in England has been temporarily closed after at least one staff member tested positive for the virus on Monday. The British government has introduced new powers to deal with the outbreak. Analysis: 50 US troops face brain injuries after Iran strikes

The Pentagon now says 50 US troops in Iraq have been diagnosed with “traumatic brain injuries” after the Iranian missile strikes earlier this month on the military facility where they were based. The United States originally announced that nobody had been hurt in the strikes that were in retaliation to the US assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.
