Afghan refugee group arrives in Mexico after fleeing Taliban rule

Mexico has accepted yet another group of refugees from Afghanistan which include 124 journalists and their families. They landed in Mexico City’s international airport on Wednesday morning where Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard welcomed them in person. Army Major General William Taylor, with the U.S. military’s Joint Staff, told a news briefing more than 10,000 people were at Kabul airport waiting to be evacuated from Afghanistan. Taliban issues new warning against extending evacuation deadline

The Taliban says it will not extend the August 31 deadline for foreign forces to evacuate American citizens and Afghans the US has worked with from Kabul airport. But Western countries warn the mission cannot be accomplished by the date given.
