Military tensions between Russia and the NATO alliance have featured prominently in President Vladimir Putin’s end of year news conference.
Speaking to about 500 journalists in Moscow, Putin rejected the idea that Russia should provide security guarantees to the West.
He says NATO should be the one giving assurances, because it has created the tensions.

It is true that a lot of ukrainians are anti Russian now, but there is also a part that aren’t.
Politics are determined by Geography. It doesn’t matter whether Ukraine wants to be part of Nato and EU or part of Eurasien Union , or alone for that matter. What does matter is the shape size and location on the spheres of influence. and in this case Ukraine is in bad shape because its size sits on brink between the EU sphere and the Russian sphere, moreover it is a stable split rather than a subjective one.
To Russia the Azov , Crimea and Black sea are crucial , and consequently it is to the US as a leverage.
Even if Ukraine were to try again to be neutral or even pro Russian, it will succumb to US pressure to polarise against that position ending in a similar 2013 scenario as long as there is strategic leverage to be gained over those two factors that I mentioned before Access to the Black and close geographic proximity to Moscow.
The only sustainable longterm solution is to give up those two factors , Black Sea Coastline and close proximity to Moscow, remove these from Ukraine and it will be clear of the Geopolitical pressure coming both from Russia and the US. Partitioning Ukraine is the only viable solutionto.
And to make it fair for Ukrainians, move all the industrial equipment to the center and west, subsidize the housing construction for the Ukrainians that would choose to move to Western part instead of Russia, and then join Nato EU with a centralised and demographically monolithic population and economy.
While recognising the other parts are Russia.

Putin is right! It would be critical for Russia to allow Ukraine to join the NATO because Ukraine has the ambition to regain Crimea and use US-NATO to wage war against Russia. If Russia allows this expansionism of US-NATO all territories of Russia will be subjugated. Russia needs to act now! Russia needs to destroy US-NATO for its ambition to conquer the world.
